In the last game a friend and I played, he attempted to but his squad of 3 distortion cannons INSIDE one of the bunkers. I think that this is against the rules, seeing as how the one weakness of a heavy weapon platform is that the troopers manning it can be killed as easily as their troop counterparts.

Putting them inside a bunker makes them harder to kill, making them even more powerful. As if a Str 10 AP 2 Blast wpn wasn't powerful enough, you hafto make it heally difficult to kill? Hell, you might as well give them a Monolith while you're at it.

What are your oppinions? I think that its unbalancing and cheezy, but maybe thats 'cause its being used against me. I play Nids, and I don't think that I would be able to put a Biovore in a bunker and still have it shoot every round. Should it be any different for Eldar Weapon Batteries?

well aslong as it's not an ordanance style weapon(like a mortar or biovore) then i'd say yes it is allowed. the whole reason for using bunkers is to protect your troops and heavy weapons.

well..bunkers rule says he can only fire half the weapons in a squad (rounded up I think) if he is in a bunker. So there is your balance right there...what little it is.

The idea of a barrage weapon firing from the inside of a bunker is kind of hard to imagine (well, not hard, just funny as hell), but it's not against any rules. It would be a good idea to discuss some house rules though.

First off, THIS post isnt done by Aramil, its done by his friend (who doesnt have a librarium account) and I am the one who used the D-cannons.

The issue at hand was more the nature of D-cannons, then whether or not they can shoot from inside a fortification.

See, the thing is, is that the D-cannons are mounted on an Anti-Grav platform, and the crew use it remotly. I had the 6 crew members inside the fortification, with the 3 D-cannons outside *because i dont think a giant anti-grav platform will fit in a fort*. The 3 d-cannons were within squad coherency of the 6 guys, although the D-cannons themselves cannot be targeted.

It also brought up the question of the nature of fortifications themselves, because with chapter apporved, its no-longer "half the occupants can fire", they now have fire points. And even with old rules, the D-cannons are fired remotly, so the bunker could be completely enclosed with no fireslits, and the D-cannons can still fire.

Its more of a Eldar and Fortification issue then Barrage weapons in a fortification.

There is no other squad in the game that can fit only some of its members inside of a transport. I would really think twice before allowing that.

Damn this has simply got to be hardest question ive ever seen on librarium. My advice email Roolboyz about this. While in theory this idea could definetly work, the anti grav platforms are also not invincible i doubt any sane enemy would spend time trying to kill the crew in a heavly armored bunker rather than just shooting the cannons.

Doesn't it say that grav platforms cannot enter transports? I would treat it the same way, considering bunkers are treated as immobile transport vehicles.
