No it is not, Haywire grenades are good but their not that good. Sounds like he used the preffered enemy rule against your armour.

What he used would seem to be wyches that are armed with a goblet of spite. That object allows the wyches to "...always hit on a 3+ in hand to hand combat, regardless of other factors."
Weather the all "other factors" incudes the skimmer bonus, I'll leave it to someone unbiased to judge.

It may seem kind of overpowered (and slightly cheesy) to combine them with haywires, but when you think of how expensive haywires are, and that there can only be one goblet of spite in his army, it's not too hard to play around it once you know what to look for. Relly the only things that this DE tactic is worth it on are monoliths, blessed hulls, and maybe falcons. Otherwise dark lances do the trick just fine
The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
I'd say that "regardless of other factors" means that yes, it would override Skimmers' defensive benefit. In comparison, Preferred Enemy merely says something to the effect of "regardless of Weapon Skill". Such wording clearly implies that if there is another factor that alters the required To-Hit roll, Preferred Enemy would not override it. Goblet of Spite, however, seems rather absolute (unless it is up against another absolute, I suppose).Originally Posted by Daedelus
Why do the survivors remain anonymous -- as if cursed -- while the dead are revered? Why do we cling to what we lose while we ignore what we still hold?
Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives.

As pointed out already, the goblet of spite DOES allow them to hit you on 3+'s.
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
