does area terrain always have a set size or can different parts of a single area terrain have different size catagories. for example, if you have a ruined building (size two), but there is a huge empty space in the middle(size one), could a normal sized model shoot over (over, not through) this empty space since it would be bigger than that section of the terrain. i thought i remebered reading in the rule book that area terrain did not have a set size, but i cant seem to find the rule.
I suppose you could do something like that, but I'd avoid it. The whole idea of area terrain is that when drawing line of sight if you need to go even a little over the edge of the woods template your LOS is blocked whether or not a model tree is in the way.
If you're going to start mixing and matching I'd say just don't bother trying to use the area terrain rules unless you're willing to saw the thing into pieces or otherwise make extremly clear markers for where the different terrain pieces are. Then treat it like seperate area terrain pices pushed together.
