If I model a Chaos Space Marine with a bolt pistol and CC weapon, and add a bolter to his belt, would he count as being armed with both [CC weap and pistol] and [bolter and cc weap]?
I.E could I use the model for both roles?
it is an interesting one, there is a case for arguing whilst WYSIWYG is a rule there is no rule about seeing things that are not there, I have seen this used to jutify putting allthe upgrades possible on a vehicle for example.
Tecnically you are complying with WYSIWYG, however some people may have issues, arguably this occurs when you have 2 squads set up like this but one is equiped one way and the other the other, then how does your opponent know which is which?
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I say, "Hello Mr. Opponent, I'd just like to say that THIS unit here are armed with bolters/bolters and CC weapons. If you forget and want to know just ask at any point ok?"
But I guess you're right...
Meh, CSMs are fun to paint and model anyway, so no big deal I guess. I was just wondering.
This thread had me considering using all the plastic included in the Carnifex box to make a single carnifex so I don't have to decide what type it is prior to the game.
Me - <<Deploys 12 armed, 5 headed Carnifex>>
Opponent - "WTF!! That Carnifex has 5 heads!"
Me - "Umm... I'll remove one for each wound you cause"
I'd call shenanigans on this.
I'm sure you have an extra chaos marine you could just model with a bolter, but having an entire squad that *could* be toting Bolters *or* Bolt Pistol and CCW is out of the spirit of WYSIWYG.
Gareth is the person I try to impress when I convert and paint.
If what your looking for is flexibility with your force I'd suggest magnetizing (weird to do with infantry but no reason it wouldn't work. But with small plastic things like that you could probably get away with using a "tacky" adhesive instead of superglue.
As I said, I have no problems with it. But WYSIWYG can also be taken too far as well.Originally Posted by Astantia

It's the spirit of WYSIWYG against the spirit of the game.
Using a nurgling to represent a Chaos dreadnought is one thing, but i woudn't bat an eyelid if someone did this mariny bolter cc weapon thing to me, JUST as long as they made me clear during the match.
For tournament purposes, I've ascertained that it wouldn't really be on - which is excellent and good to know. but, it's a line i can safely cross when playing with my mates.
Several things. I've got magnatized rippers for my wounds on my nids, makes it nice and easy to count wounds
Second, magnatizing plastic models is super easy.
Third, adding a magnatized arm for a marine/CSM ain't too bad either.
Fourth, WYSIWYG is generally only a tournie convention.
Fifth, WYSIWYG is a one way road- If you have paid the points for it, it must be modeled. Not the other way around. You can model everything you want on it, and not pay for it. But in the spirit of things, i'd point them out before game.
Lastly, the have fun part seems to be a highly subjective part of the game. Especially at tournies. Me, i have fun fielding 130+ guardians with 6 starcannons. Meat for the fun of it. But people cry how hard it is to kill a t3 5+ model toting a 12" gun. Go figure. (it's unfluffy, you outnumber me and your a dying race)
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
I'm pretty sure that a single model may only have two weapons, only one of which can be two handed.
So a CSM can not have a bolter, bolt pistol and CCW.
He's not saying the CSM will be played as having three weapons, he's just making the peice of plastic versitle. He can play with it having a pistol and a CCW, then if he wants to switch up his list in a later game, he doesn't have to buy another model.
