Hello, I'm fairly new to the rules and would appreciate some clarification.
I've been reading a few threads to get used to the multiple armour/toughness rules. I've read quite a bit but haven't yet seen a definite answer for the following: if I'm only targeting part of a unit due to LOS, do I consider the 'majority' values for the entire unit, or just the majority of those I can target. I believe it to be the entire unit.
Well, being that only those that are seen can be hurt, I would have to say that only those that are seen are used for majority, not the unit.
In other words, keep the Neophytes in cover and let the Initiates hang out of the cover.
BTW, welcome to LO!
I would include only the valid targets, dosn't matter if it is range limitations or if it is LOS, for mixed armour and majority toughnes. The reason I say this is you assign wounds with mixed armour, and the models always get their armour save.
Say you have a squad of 5 initiates, and 2 neophites. Due to the fact you are rapid firing guns at the squad, only the two neophites are valid targets. The majority armour is +3, but you can only assign wounds to the neophites. If 2 neophites and 1 initiate were valid tagets you would assign a wound each to the neophites, then one to the initate, then back to the neophites etc.
As for majority toughness, say there is a squad of 5 Tzeench terminators and 3 thrall wizards. If only the thralls are valid targets (again dosn't matter if it's range or LOS) would the thralls be toughness 4 even though the terminators aren't being hit?
Considering that in CC only engaged models can be taken for the majority, I guess it follows that only units in range can be considered. It makes more sense, but wasn't covered by the rules.
Thanks for the help.
