Ok between people wanting to play without it and low rolling on mission selection I'm about to do my first Omega level mission in the new edition (weird it's been this long).
The questions are.
When setting up my troops do I have to set up all my basic infantry or can I choose to keep some behind?
Do farseers count as "basic infantry" I wouldn't think so, but I'm not sure.
If I can keep troops/elites back and a flacon comes on in the same turn they do can I chose to have them start in the falcon or do I have to move them in on foot and then try and embark them.
The rules are vague enough that you can keep any models off the table in reserve if you want to.Originally Posted by sunnysideThere is a page in the main rulebook about this. But basically a model is basic infantry if it does not have a special movement option (outside of FoF) or is a huge (monstrous) creature of some sort.Originally Posted by sunnysideIt's the latter, but sometimes people will allow you to mount up on the turn they arrive - it's something to discuss with your opponent (Grand tournaments allow it, for example). If I can keep troops/elites back and a flacon comes on in the same turn they do can I chose to have them start in the falcon or do I have to move them in on foot and then try and embark them.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
According to the wording for escalation you may choose to not deploy something if you wish and have it enter via reserves if you wish.Originally Posted by sunnysideYes a walking farseer is "Basic Infantry".Originally Posted by sunnyside
Eerything is basic infantry unless it:
is a vehicle
has a dedicated transport
is on a bike/jetike
is jump infantry
is a mostrous creature
If none of those apply then its basic infantryUnfortunately you cannot start them in the falcon. They would need a dedicated transport to do this. This isn't a huge deal though because as long as you keep the back of the falcon less than 8" from you're table edge the troops can still embark on the turn they arrive.Originally Posted by sunnyside
The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
