This is not in the FAQ, so here goes. An imperial guard platon is 1 troop choice, which means 1 roll to bring it on. But it is 3 separate units. So because you have to specify 1 drop point per reserves roll, how does the platoon deplay around that point? It makes no sense to have 3-5 units all deployed in a spiral around the drop point, because it would be confusing to both players as to what models belong to what squad. So, how do people deal with single drop points for single troop choices? Or do they choose 1 drop point per squad?
Sierra Company, 74th Noctan Strike Regiment - The Meatshields!
You make one roll for the platoon to see if it arrives because it is a single selection. If it does each unit deploys seperately, meaning you pick three spots. They do not have to maintain coherency with each other when they drop, just as when they come in as reserves on the table edge they do not have to be clumped together.
At least this is how we play it.
you roll for the entire platoon once for the reserves roll, but afterwards each unit is deployed separately, so you deepstrike each one on its own.
so you chose a 1 droppoint per squad, as you call it.
