I have just bougt the Eldar codex and noticed that some of the units have a BS of 6 or 7, does anyone understand this, The 40K rule book states you -the BS value from 7 to give the hit value (I/E 7-BS5=2), but it also states that the minimum to hit roll is 2 and a 1 is an automatic hit so BS6 should always miss if you follow the rules in the BGB.
Aslo minus 7 from 7 = 0 so what does this mean, the shot always misses or is it an automatic hit, or do they hit on 2+, if it is the latter then what a stupid pointless rule.
Weapon skill I can understand but this BS6/7 just seems sily and ill thought out, have I missed something.
1) Just to show how uber cool they are. Lame excuse, but GW is sometimes lame like that.
2) In case another army comes along one day and has an ability that reduces the BS of a unit firing at it. Seems plausible, to me. This way, those with the BS 6/7 are still good enough shots to not be fooled, but even those crack shots (BS 5) are hard pressed to hit.
In any case, just play it that 2+ hits, a one misses.
I remember the old days....
"They say the Darkness consumes you. They don't say what happens after It's done."
But if you look in the rule book and on the quick reference sheet table, it says you roll 2+ for bs 5+. This means that the bs 7 guys would still roll 2+. I gotta agree with Caluin, its probably just to make them super cool and incase there is a bs subtracter some day.
EDIT: Man, Nemisis beat me to it.

It's all 2+ to hit, everything beyond that is just showing off (they are Eldar...).
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
