Well, I was wondering this a couple of days ago...
To make it easy and hopefully understandable, say I have 2 Marines, one armed with a flamer and one with a bolter. In their shooting phase, they target a squad of 5 IG. My flamer hits 4 models with his template. Does that automatically mean that the bolter hits (after I succesfully roll to hit of course) the 5th model who is untouched by the template? Or is it bending the rules to say that one of those 4 IG is also hit by a bolter?
Rulebook, page 26: "When a unit suffers wounding hits, each will affect a single model - you cannot claim that all the hits strike a single model."
In your example, you have five hits. If they all wound, and the IG player fails all his five saves, he would have to remove five models.
What he said. Since your opponent is allowed to remove any failed saves from the entire squad because of the template, then all of the wounds are totalled together for the entire squad.
You hit 4 with the flamer, wound 4, and 4 failed saves. You shoot 1 with a bolter, wound once, then fail 1 save. Thats five total failed saves, 5 dead gaurdsmen.

were you asking about torrent of fire rules or somthing? as long as you deal a number of wounds equal to the members of the squad. beyond that i cant see why it would matter.
In the name of god impure souls of the living dead shal be banished into eturnal damnation. Amen.
I beleive he is asking, do the models under the template have to take the wounds given by the template and if so, can the opponent kill these models off first with any other wounds that the squad would have taken, thus basically eliminating the wounds that the template would have dealt.
That probably made it more complicated than it started as:tongue:

Provided there were 5 or more guardsmen in range of both weapons this would have to mean 5 seperate models get wounded.
