A guy in a recent game basically claimed he could measure from the tip of a spike on the front claw, which seemed pretty bull to me. Everything else that can charge has a clearly defined base. (i.e. Dreadnaught you don't measure from the tip of his arm, you measure from the base)
I believe its from the base and baring that its from the hull.
Does anyone have a FAQ or page number stating that?

The problem comes with models like the defiler where the BODY is where you measure to/from for assaults. This is a serious pain, and I would recommend you agree pregame to measure to legs. Totally up to you of course.
Since all other measuring to shoot the defiler is done to the small body, by RAW, the same is true for assaults.
But you run into the same problem as genestealers. The arms get in the way. ANd I honestly have played several people that have argues that I wasn't in btb after we fought and I piled in because my arms kept me out. I have since started using checkers as bases once my models hit cc with these people.
So, it comes down to how you want to play it-nice guy, or hard line. Me, it's easiest to measure from legs. Rules say otherwise.
