I just wanted to know if it would be possible (or legal) to upgrade models in a terminator command squad just like a normal command squad. (the idea of an emperors champion and apothecary in TDA is what got me all excited)
I haven't seen anything that says I can or can not do this but certain questions do arise.
I would love to get peoples opinions on this to see if it is just to much cheese or if anyone else has done these conversions.
I will probably do the conversions just to see how they turn out but I would love to know if I can field them legally or be stuck using them only at home.
Thanks for the help!
The answer you are looking for is under the terminator command section. Does it list an apoth as an upgrade? Nope? then you can't.
Would be cool, fluffy and all, but not within the current rules. As a suggestion, you could do something ala space wolves or blacktemplar iwth similar notions.
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to work it in as a chapter trait with a reasonably offset disadvantage.
I have started my own chapter although I'm still cooking my noodle as far as trait pros and cons.
Well when I get around to it I'll do the conversions and post some pics.
If nothing else they should look pretty sweet!
Thanks for the direction
You might want to wait for the new Codex: Dark Angels to come out in spring next year.
From the different rumours I have heard it looks like you might get some specialist Terminators in a DA army.
Shut up and play.
Not to throw things off topic...
Am I correct in assuming that as long as it is not Ubercheese you are not restricted to using traits in the SM codex, you can simply (or not so) create your own?
the codex seems to imply that as long as you don't tip the scales too much you can pretty much do whatever.
Please slap me if I'm wrong (although the statement in the SM codex -p42 para 2&3- may be to vague to warrant more than idle opinion)
so there may be the potential to have a chapter trait that allows special termies in a command squad
Well you have 4 options with SM's. You could have vanilla (no traits), minor divergence (1 advantage from any one trait), Notable Divergence (2 advantages from one trait), or Significant divergence (2 different advantages from any 2 traits). With each of these comes drawbacks. There is no advantages that allow terminators to be upgraded. Please read 42-45
There is a trait that allows you to give "one wound models" terminator armor. So you could take that trait and upgrade the squad apothacary, sgt, champion and standard bearer to termie armor. The only problem is the odd man out. Make him a plasma gunner. Just like trying to make a bike command squad.
edit: just checked it. It is scions of mars.

and could you use other command units if you choose not to give the Techmarine the additional wound for a particular battle?
and lastly... does this allow you to give the techmarine terminator armor?
thanks for all the help!
