So my wife and I have started playing 40k with her new Eldar codex. The question came up regarding her farseer getting a Perils of the Warp attack on him. The attack is double the toughness of the Farseer. By normal BGB rules that instakills him. But it just sooo illogical (even for GW) to have the most psychic army in the game, allow their best psykers, to get instakilled by doing what they do best. So far we are allowing it to only take one wound for sake of it being a stupid thing to happen. But what is the consensus on this?
Yes, it Instant Kills them. You said it yourself. The attack is strength double the Farseer's Toughness, so he suffers Instant Death.
Fluff wise, this makes sense, since the Eldar are prone to excess and far more vulnerable to the predations of Warp Entities. Where a human mind is a snack to these entities, an Eldar Mind is a veritable bonanza of delicious foods. When one gets through their considerable defenses, it literaly eats away at the very soul of the Eldar Farseer.
That was a very controversial decision from GW to lower the Farseers toughness to instant kill range. Don't forget theres still the default ghosthelm with the farseer now that helps resist PoW's.
Eldar aren't the strongest psychic race. Marines are meant to be much stronger. Eldar have the most numerous psykers (warlocks).

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
OK, that really bites then. I mean what you guys say about the fluff/description of it all. But even a 3+ save can be failed, which is what happened to my wife. Oh well.
