This is confusing to me so I decide to ask all of you on here. I am mainly talking about Eldar here as that is the army that brought up my question.
If I use a Wave Serpent as a transport, it deploys as the unit that it is carryin? Like if it is transporting Scorpions then it deploys as Eliet, or if it is transporting Dire Avengers it deploys as a Troop choice. And since it is a dedicated transport can it ONLY carry the unit that it is dedicated to?
Also, If I use a Falcon to transport fire dragons. Does the falcon deploy as Heavy, or Eliet? And does it count as a dedicated transport in this case?
If a transport is bought with the unit, it is considered a dedicated transport. This means that only the unit that the transport came with can ride inside (plus any attached IC's). In this situation, you deploy the transport and the unit at the same time during deployment. You can place only the transport and have the unit inside or you can place them both separately but at the same time. This is also done in the standard deployment order. Howling Banshees in a Wave Serprent are done in the elite portion while Dire Avengers in a Wave Serpent are done during troop deployment.
If, on the other hand, you use your falcon / fire dragon example, the falcon is bought independent as a Heavy Support choice but just happens to have transport capability. In this case, you would deploy the falcon during the heavy support section of deployment (assuming no escalation / reserves). The falcon would be empty at this point in time. You would continue on with the rest of your deployment as normal, but once you got to your elite section, you could deploy the fire dragons inside the falcon by simply stating they are getting into the vehicle.
And since the falcon was bought separately, it is not a dedicated transport and any unit can ride inside of it (assuming the falcon has enough capacity to hold all of the members of said unit). Only one unit can get inside at any given point in time, though (plus any attached IC's).
Awesome, thanks for clearing that up!
