Can a wall building that is treated as terrain with a 4+ cover save stop base to base contact?
I was assaulted by 4 Marines and a chappy. Two were on my side of the wall after assault moves with the chappy and two were on the other side...i.e. could not physically get to btb contact.
Chappy failed to kill me scoring only two wounds. I killed two....problem was, I wanted the Powerfist that was on my side of the wall as they were what I thought was my kill zone.....He took the two on the other side who were stopped from btb by the wall. The models had the room to make it to btb but the wall was in the way. Do you not count the wall as being there or what?
After much whining and crying on my part I let my opponent have his way.
Well, as you'd know, the kill zone of a combat is any models within 2" of a model in base contact.
Therefore if any of his models on the other side of the wall were within 2" of his models on your side, then those could attack as well.
The wall itself doesn't dictate the combat, only the distance.
If you wanted to kill the powerfist sarge, then he would have to be in the combat zone (ie 2inches) and you must have killed everyone else in that zone as well. This would force your opponent to take this model out of the combat.
Another note on what you said: The chaplain (as an independant character) can only attack when in base to base contact with another model. So if the chaplain wasn't in contact with any of your models, then he couldn't kill anyone. And also couldn't be attacked.
hope you can understand that!
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Whoops...forgot to add that the model being assaulted was a libi....kill zone becomes models in base to base.
Read the reply you got. An IC (chaplain, Librarian) can only strike or be struck by models in base contact or models within 2 of the model in base contact. If he had any model in base contact with your Librarian in CC then any model within 2 of such model could hit and be hit by your librarian the exception being the chaplain who (being an IC) had to be in base contact to strike at the librarian.:w00t:
- Models in direct B2B contact
- Models within 2" of above squad members who are *NOT* in B2B with anyone else
Models in B2B must attack what they are in contact with. They cannot elect to use their 2" kill zone to attack someone else.
Great answers thanks:yes: I guess I was WRONG! That's what whining gets you....
