I am at the point when I am thinking of going to a tournement in the near future. I was wondering what exactly is a "Comp" score. I am assuming it stands for Competative Score but what exactly is it? What should can you do to improve it? What do people do to absolutely not get a good one? How important is this score?
Kendo's DA's, Eldar, and stuff WIP
Dark Angels: W-22 D-4 L-5 High Elves W-8 L-1
Comp = Cpmposition - the way your army is made up, basically you get a set ammount of points, then lose some if:
(these are general rules)
HQ > 25% of total points
EL > 25% of total points
Troops < 40% of total points
FA > 25% of total points
HS > 25% of total points
Add to that other complexities (varries from tourney to tourney but seen points lost for min maxing and identical units)
it is a play off for the power gamers, they could take a heavily unbalanced army and win lots of points from the results, but they will loose comp points
Ask the tourney organisers what the cireteria are before you go
Everything you have been told is a lie!
This page can give you a general idea of how well you'll score in Comp - http://tabletop.taplap.ru/ftp/Warham...MP20030301.pdf
I don't know how recent that page is, and obviously criteria can change from tourney to tourney. If you use that link as a guideline, however, then you should be in the right ball park.
