Okay, I was just thinking about how landspeeders with missiles would be good for shooting at Tau Pirahnas from beyond shooting range, and then I remembered they were blast weapons.
Now what happens when a blast weapon causes a penetrating hit on a pirahna or other tank and destroys it, the gun drones then dismount like normal, but are under the blast radius? I would think the blast would not affect them, but I'm not sure.
Any responses are appreciated.

The attack resolves entirely before the drones are forced to dismount. I seem to recall reading somewhere (on this forum) someone say that, somehow, the drones were forced to disembark after the hit was determined to be a penetrating hit, but before the effect of the hit is rolled for.
This seems definitely to be incorrect. The attack is resolved completely, then the guys get out. They're certainly not 'out' when you're figuring out who the blast hits, and so they are definitely not hit.
Are the drones considered to be embarked? If so, I'd wager that you resolve it the same as an emergency disembark.
Edit: Bean seems to have beaten me to it.

Just adding to what is already here: Gun Drones are counted as passengers (P.30 Codex TE) if the vehicle is damaged. They are therefore a separate unit to the vehicle, and cannot thus be hit by the same weapon which targeted the vehicle.
