Sustained assault for for Exarchs says if they hit they get to roll to hit again, so what about stationary vehicles, they would be able to hit unlimited times because they automatically make every hit? this doesn't seem right does anyone know what to do?
Although I have yet to find a rule specifically addressing it, I would say no. The reason is because the basic rules define close combat as fighting between units with weapon skills, and states "...vehicles don't take part in close fighting in the same way as troops."
Sustained assault states "...for each close combat hit..."
Also, the notion of unlimited automatic hits just doesn't sound like what the power is suposed to do, nor is it very balanced. Just my opinion, though. If I find a FAQ or rule somewhere I'll post it here.
I am with Wolf on this one-
Whilst I seriously doubt GW actually thought about this eventuality when they wrote the sustained assult rule - it does contain the words - close combat hit - and a hairdresser banging on the side of a bathtub is hardly close combat so I would assume that he gets his normal attacks only - no benefit for sustained assult.
The problem is that carries over to a moving vehicle as well
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Two more arguments against sustained assault being effective against vehicles:
It says "resolve to wound rolls and armour saves as normal", but not that you roll for armour penetration
It says that you "keep rolling until you miss" - if you hit automatically, then you do not roll.
This only matters in case of baharroth anyway, and he requires the opponent's permission.
