A quick question, before I go out and spend too much money on this voluminous volume.
The Renegades and Heretics list: What exactly is it? Just an adapted IG army? I did hear that they had Alpha Legion Allies.. just wanted to confirm that I was getting what I wanted.

In essence it's an IG list with some chaos flavoured units such as ogryn berzerkers and alpha legion marines thrown into the list.
It's a nice book if you want a traitor guard army, however if your looking for a more LatD style list you might want to wait for the 2nd or 3rd book in the saga.
Thanks for the info, mate.

Yeah, in the preview for the Siege of Vraks: Part 2, they mention "the Renegades and Heretics 'Servants of Slaughter' army list" being included. Frankly, that just sounds bad ass.
Another thing about the Renegades and heretics list is that most of the units have random leadership; each unit, when required to take a leadership test for the first time, roll a D6 and add 4, and that is their leadership for the rest of the game. So its kinda unreliable, but its still a cool list. Ogryn Berzerkers ftw!
...and the models are so cool.
The list is basically a doctrine guard list with ogryns. The random leadership and alpha legion squad is the main difference, and they are able to take any tank listed in IA1 as well - vanquishers, conquerors etc, which loyal IG can't using their stand alone dex.
They have sabre defence platforms and salamanders too
But they look so cool - thats the biggest plus point - but pretty expensive to collect, and you'll have load of spare cadian torsos when you've finished to put on spikes and things
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
The new renegades list in the 2nd book is a khorne heavy list.
And i think it's worth pointing out all your guardsmen can have pistol & melee weapons etc. And some of the costs are iffy compared to standard I.G. (sentinals are cheaper for example)
