Hey guys, I played a game of apocalypse this weekend, and a question came up. Is it possible for a tech priest to repair a super heavy tank, such as a Baneblade, or for that matter, a Titan? OUr opponents said no, as the "titan was too big to repair", while our side reasoned that since I had the model from Forgeworld named "Titan tech priest", it must be possible to repair one. Does that mean only that model can repair a titan, or can any tech priest? I would assume any could, and that is just an aesthetic change, but it could be in an Imperial Armour volume i don't have, i suppose. I appreciate any and all answers, especially those that can cite the BRB/Imperial Guard Codex/Apocalypse or whatever. |

I don't think you could repair a Titan.. but I don't think it's pushing it too far to repair a Superheavy. And isn't the Titan Techpriest supposed to be the Techpriest from inside the Titan, making sure it's working properly? Like an Engineer in a Steam Tank.

I think it makes the most sense to treat super heavy tanks like regular tanks. IE. The enginseer can walk around the tank and get in the tank easily to repair treads/weapons. A Titan is based on the ground but it would take a tech priest hours to get up the leg before he even began working. Arguably you could make a house rule that to repair titans the engineseer must remain in contact with the titan for two turns prior to attempting repairs. Just my 2 cents worth. |

A titan is a vehicle so he would be able to repair it, although when the rules were written for tech preists I don't think that was what GW had in mind.

Yhea from a rules point of view i would go with he can repair it but from a practical side if a titans super heavy weapon had just been blown off by a squadren of fighter bomerz and flaming debris were falling to the ground i think the tech preist may have a slightly difficult time repairing that in a rush. I think he can repair it. If ground based troops can damage the titan and potentially blow it up in CC, why can't the tech preist repair it from ground level? I think the rules need to be balanced here. Personally I don't think that titans should be able to be assaulted by ground based CC, but I don't make the rules. |

Because if you blow a Titan's ankle up, he's in trouble. Sticking a spanner in his ankle won't do much to fix it's gargantuan uber-mega-bolter, or whatever it's called

@Wolf - Valid, but somehow by bashing a titan's ankle with a spanner you can still get a weapon destroyed result and blow up his Mother-Lover Bolter (or whatever it's called). I guess there is some truth to this reflexology lark after all (Reflexology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) So I think that TechPreists that deal with titans should be re-named TechReflexologists - this will give us all a nice fluffy answer to why a TechReflexologists can fix a titan by tickling it's feet. :-) |
