Well, my mates and I have recently been playing a lot of Apocalypse and I was wondering - do you find the vortex grenade annoying or fun?
Last game I played, my Legion Relic Chaplain threw the vortex nade at Kharn and a Khorne Berserker Dreadnought (home rules). "It destroyed them, then proceded to move and killed my Chaplain and also wiped out a Terminator Command Squad!
So, yay or nay?
The Dark One has arrived.
Well I'd say weapons like these that have too much power can be really annoying...
(Unless it's me with the nades!)
They are just plain awesome. It's apocalypse. Therefore, all the old really ridiculous shit has made it's way here. There used to be a whole lot more bizarre stuff than this going on (just look for "Jones is acting funny" my favorite). These things needed a home, and Apoc is it.
Some of the Apoc rules can be really over powered, but mostly, they work fairly well in enormous games where everybody gets one or two assets that can balance out each others' things. Many of the Apoc rules are designed to get rid of a large amount of models so the game can speed up as the turns progress. At least that's my feeling. Vortex grendades give forces of those without titans (or the $$$ for titans) a chance to drop some really big stuff.
I guess you could say I lean towards fun.
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
That used to happen in second edition as well. I think if you are going to rip a hole in the faric of spacetime, there should be major consequences. In this case, you have to figure out how to get the weapon into the right place at the right time while still managing to mitigate your risk.
As a guard player it will be loads of fun the first time I throw a vortex from some squad that is quietly escorting a suicidal hero type. FOR THE EMPEROR! *whoosh*
RecklessFable's Journey to Mediocrity (Painting an IG army)
I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
Depending on the circumstances it can be either. If its just a home game,, you and a friend, id say its fine. If its a big game at a GW, id say, its not needed...
107th Regiment, 5th Armored Battle Group- 5500ptsFor someone to deal as much damage as you did, the Emperor must surely be at your side. - MaxDv
It still didn't trump the "Virus Outbreak" IMO, that could wipe out half an army if the dice went right(or wrong, depending on your point of view). Though anything with decent (fully enclosed) armour was safe from it.
I'm not a big fan of this grenade. The idea that all races somehow have access to a super grenade that they can throw and destroy a peice of time and space seems ridiculous, and the fact that its pretty much as powerful as anything else out there seems dumb. Not a fan.
