I officially played my first game of Planet strike a few days ago (2000 points Eldar VS Dark Eldar) and one thing that bugged me and my opponent was that every weapon was from the Imperium. We were thinking that in the next battle we would use race appropriate autoguns (Ie Brightlances and Shrieking Catapults instead of Lasguns and Heavy Bolters). Our only worry is if this would be balanced for all armies. Any thoughts?
The planetstrike rulebook suggests that as long as the weapons are a rough approximation (Orks would use Big Shootas instead of H.Bolters, Tau could use railguns instead of Lascannons) there shouldn't be too many issues regarding balance. My eldar book is buried deep in the pile of my armies, else I'd suggest some alternatives you could use.
oh? it says that in the book I must of completely missed that. thanks for letting me know.
You could also invent new weapons. For example I play Necrons and don't feel that having weapons protruding from a bastion is very "necrony" so I'm designing my necron bastions to have no weapon mounts and instead fire gauss lighting which is the same thing as a heavy bolter rules wise.
