Yep, you heard that right. There is one of the battle missions the Eldar cannot lose, no matter what happens, only by complete stupidity of placement. One mission goes on until one side or the other is wiped out completely, no limit on turns. Take Swooping Hawks Eldar players and rejoice, you can't lose this one.
One of the space marine missions is very difficult to lose - I've played it three times from one point of view or the other and marines have never lost even when the player had a bad list and no tactics to speak of.
Then choose a mission instead, or request a re-rol on the grounds it's all you play. It seems like that though, I seem to get the same missions over and over. I think it's to do with averages on the dice more than anything.
Battle missions is fine if you just don't think of it as 'competitive' environment in any sense or form. I use randomly rolled stuff from Battle Missions with one of my friends a lot and we don't really stress about it so its always fun. I think its actually an interesting way to get new insights into tactics of even 'competitive lists' because the mission type might automatically set you into a rare kind of situation you might normally see only 1 time out of 20 or so. Keeps your mind sharp as you can't always roll with the same old one-two tactics.
@realitycheque : What was that 'can't lose' Space Marine mission?
