Yep, you heard that right. There is one of the battle missions the Eldar cannot lose, no matter what happens, only by complete stupidity of placement. One mission goes on until one side or the other is wiped out completely, no limit on turns. Take Swooping Hawks Eldar players and rejoice, you can't lose this one.

One of the space marine missions is very difficult to lose - I've played it three times from one point of view or the other and marines have never lost even when the player had a bad list and no tactics to speak of.

Now come on, you know the Empror's Spess Mehrennes can't be allowed to lose...

Then choose a mission instead, or request a re-rol on the grounds it's all you play. It seems like that though, I seem to get the same missions over and over. I think it's to do with averages on the dice more than anything.

IMO the battle missions arn't generally suitable for random games - they are more like scenario games where you should agree lists (or at least list restrictions) with an opponent in advance.

That's what we did last time - and then we decided sod it too much effort let's just play a normal game lol

Battle missions is fine if you just don't think of it as 'competitive' environment in any sense or form. I use randomly rolled stuff from Battle Missions with one of my friends a lot and we don't really stress about it so its always fun. I think its actually an interesting way to get new insights into tactics of even 'competitive lists' because the mission type might automatically set you into a rare kind of situation you might normally see only 1 time out of 20 or so. Keeps your mind sharp as you can't always roll with the same old one-two tactics.

I can't remember the name but it's mission 2 for the astartes, where the enemy start in the middle all spread out and you come busting in from the side. If there's even a halfway decent amount of terrain you'd need to make some big mistakes to lose it.
