Im looking at Hit and Run tatics for my space marines, i have the idea of a Chaplin mounted on a bike zipping around jioning a squad here, leaving joining anthor squad there leaving etc.
My idea would be to have the Chaplian on his bike seperate from all units, I also have 2 attack bikes (seperate not a squad) mounted with multi meltas, and an assualt squad epuiped with jump packs. my plan would be to use the bikes for heavy support and the assualt squad for hit and run on anything.
I was woundering if it would be posible to have the Chaplain driving around joiing which ever squad needed him at the time changing numerus times in 1 game. allowing for his re roll skill, which would be handy for the assualt squad and the attack bikes if i need to take out a tank force or something similar.
I know i could simply attach him to a squad at the start but can i do so mid game, then seperate him after the attack, for him to go off and join anthor squad?
I know i could simply get a Chaplain with a jump pack, put with him on a bike i would then have 3 bikes in total allowing for him to complete 1 squad of bikes if teh situation arose, anyways, im unsure as to which one to get
Jump Pack or
Looking for him to join and leave squads during the game (attack bikes and assualt squad equiped with jump packs). is this possible which one is best?

not possible. and when i use chaplains i always use it with an assault squad(with jump pack.)
The chaplain could join the attack bikes (wether they are split or combined) as an attack bike squad is 1-3 attack bikes if i remember correctly. However if he is on a bike he cannot join the assault squad, and vice versa if he has a jump pack. I'd give him a jump pack as the attack bikes are unlikely to see close combat (or if they do, they shouldn't) whereas the assault squad is pretty much garaunteed. Otherwise just leave him on his bike completely un-supported. Or, better still, get a full bike squad or scout bike squad. Attach him to that.
Having allready gotten the model with him on a bike its a little to late to get the jump pack, i was planing on guilding my army up eventually with him leading a few scouts bikes etc, but thought he might be able to join ( use his re roll skill )on teh assualt squad as well.
If i do leave him solo, is there any kind of loop hole things where i can place him next to or within range to allow the assualt squad rerollls?
say i have him attacking some infantry solo, the assualt squad charge in very close to him to support him, doing close combat attacks, would this allow for the re roll?
I know it would just be easiry to buy anthor chaplain with a jump pack but ive spent way too much on my army as it is and would just like to use what i have for now before building up to 1500.
any suggestions would help or alternatively any links to buyinga cheap jump packed chaplain within the uk

hey, there's no rule saying ur bike chaplain can't join the assualt squad. the rule simply states that the chaplain has to move at the same speed as the slowest model in the unit, therefore your chap would lose the 3+ turbo boost. also the bike adds +1 T, and the only reason people dont get them into CC is that theyre expensive points wise, and most people dont field enough.
throw him in with a ten man bike squad, and you have tons of survivability with T5 marines and rerolls to hit. my fast attack squad consists of khan 9 bikes and one attack bike, the sgt has a PF, and that unit kills on the charge. now the only difference is that khan give the squad the "furious charge", and the "hit and run" which add to the bike's effectiveness and survivability in CC
I coud be wrong but doesn't the codex say that bike squads are 3-7 and can also include an attack bike?
That means with the attack bike your maxed out at 8 bikes. where does 9 come in or 10 either.
You can have 8 bikers plus an attack bike. It even specifies you can then split them into combat squads if they have 10 men (9 bikes + 2 on the attack bike) so you can have two squads of 5 men (5 bikers and 3 bikers+attack bike).
The chaplain can't leave when locked in combat so he might not make it into as many situations as you expect.
And technically you don't need to announce he is in or out of a squad you just move him in and out of coherency in the movement phase.
