How to kill a tyranid harpy

    Hi,
Last night I played a 2K game against tyranids with my space marines, and one unit just seemed to cause me real problems.
The Tyranid harpy, no matter what i tried I just couldnt seem to kill it,
Im looking for some advise on the best way to take this thing down.
What eventually worked was my scouts with sniper rifles btu I dont really want to have to waste turns of shooting hoping to roll 6's.

A short burst from an assault cannon, a couple of autocannons, or failing that a couple of heavy bolters.
The (rarely seen) triple grenade launcher scout bikers can also do a number on them.

If all else fails and you need them dead in a hurry just hit them with every bolter and stormbolter in range, they aren't much harder to wound with small arms than marines.

Yeah they have (if i remember correctly) a lower toughness and save than the other TMCs and should be modelled up high on a flying base of some sore (read, dont often have cover). So take all those AP4 weapons and such and blast away, even bolters go to 9 shots = 1 wound, cover or not while against any other TMCs they'd be looking at 27 shots for 1 wound, heavy bolters need 3 shots for a wound where they would need 13.5 against another MC.

Just grab all your AP4 and small arms fire you can muster and kill these guys. Another tip when facing nids, creatures arent vehicles.

    Let me explain.

You face a mechanised army, so you shoot at a bunch of things because a stunned or immobilised result will stop a transport, so its better to stop multiple vehicles from moving or shooting than to destroy 1 or 2. With monsterous creatures you have to focus fire, If you're facing 3 trygons it's better to dead 6 wounds to two of them and leave one unharmed than it is t deal 4 wounds to each. Because weather it has 2 wounds left or all 6 it can still chew through your guys.
