Well i have a bit of a problem with dark reapers. My buddy who is just getting into 40k is going to cheese his army out with no less then 10 dark reapers and a wraith lord. I play blood angles, and have done so since about 2000. I have a full company of marines, 60 tacticals...20 devistators, 10 assault marines, 2 dreads, a LRC, an annihilator... What do you guys think i should do? Fun games are gonna be hard when he is just out to win...
I may come off as some punk asking "how do i win?" but more importantly i want to know how to play to counter him so i dont have to ALWAYS drop pod or use 2 cheese 4ML devestator squads and hope and prey i get to go first.
How do you guys deal with this combo/problem?
Thanks a bunch LO
He's using all three HQ choices. Actually thats not the most effiecient combo. If he really wanted to cheese he'd use 3 wraithlords. Or maybe 9 warwalkers! He'd have 2 squads of 5. So he'll seriously cripple 2 marine squads a turn. I think you best bet is to use assault troops deepstriking in. Or maybe using them with cover to move up the board. DR are incredibly expensive so you should have little to fear elsewhere in his army. The wraithlord probably should be ignored. The wraithlord isn't a big deal early on as he has very little killing power for his points.Really he isn't any better then a dreadnought.
Devestators could pound the wraithlord or put a hurt on his reapers. You just got to watch out as he could hurt them pretty bad too. If you use the devestators to take out the reapers then I'd put a diversionary squad in an obvious place. Let him shoot it and take the losses like a proper marine then hit him hard with your devestators. If you get first turn even better and kill them before they can kill you.
Whoops, seems I edited a bit too much.
Well like I said before, assault cannons are best for the wraithlord (baal preds, landspeeders). Infiltrate is good for the dark reapers (getting some scouts would be good). With your current army you probably will simply have to out shoot him.
Oh and don't run your landraider, assuming he takes a brightlance you'll probably already be taking plenty of brightlance fire from the wraithlord, at least a shot a turn if you're moving towards him. Not to mention that brightlances have sufficient strength to negate feel no pain.

Ask yourself why in the world would you trust a win loss record? Playing them yourself is the only way to tell.
The true joy in the game is playing down to the last model, no matter the odds.
Heh, since he's used up all his Heavy support on the walker and Reapers, it sounds like he expects you to boost up the field toward him and try to get stuck in. Lazy way to beat someone huh?
Why not suprise him and change up the tactics? Have you got heavy bolters and autocannons? What about Chaplain Lemartes?
If he hasnt got any HVY Support left for falcons, try changing it up on him and playing some sit and shoot marines? No tanks, just lots of bodies, and a countercharge Death company. Hell you could throw out the Blood Angels rules (*GASP!* I know I love em too) and play a regular chapter painted red just to teach him some army balance. Just sit some dev. squads in some cover to aviod that nasty ap3 weaponry and fill the air with as much lead as possible. Most of those eldar have pretty crummy saves anyway.
Just remember his dedicated transports DON'T have holo fields (but do have energy fields), so a couple str7 shots will scrap em, apart from that he has to hoof it across the field through a wall of fire or try and outshoot you. Wraithlord wont do much damage strolling down the board will they? ^_^
