The battle for Hidaxes Sub-Sector (Listwar)

UPDATE:
Final date for list submission: 25 June
Competition start: 1 July

The Hidaxes Subsector has been under Imperial control for at least 1200 years. It has been deemed inappropriate for colonization due to frequent, even if short-lived, warp storms, but it proved as an invaluable asset nevertheless: the rare conditions caused by warp instability are an ideal place for advanced training for specialist (and often secret) units and as a weapon testing field.
This subsector would offer strategical advantages for everyone able to control it... provided that they can manage to fend off all the enemies incoming from every directions.

Ok boys, since it passed an awful lot of time from the last votewar :O, in which i did not participated because I registered too late, I am grown tired to wait.
Thus, i'll launch a brand new Listwar! (also, 3k views on an empty post in 3 days is quite a feat so i suppose that there is a bit of interest on this) 8)

Down with the rules (freely adapted from "Battle for PX-8356" listwar)
 • 1500pt list from any single legal, currently printed codex. I include GK/SoB in this, but using the PDFs on the GW site (i.e. no allies) [1500 and not 2000 because you'd have to make choices, and to prevent those "netlist" balanced lists. You'll need to pick carefully to balance advantages and disadvantages, and you won't be able to cover all the holes you'll find. Be creative :) ]
 • Standard FOC applies.
 • Current GW FAQs applies
 • No Chapter Approved, even 5th edition, to ensure people voting don't have to have read every WD/web article from the last 8 years. This includes Forgeworld Addons even if they're claimed "legal for 40k"
 • Characters, squads and vehicles must be named, :skywalker: and the army list must come with at least 2-3 sentences of background.
 • In the event of an odd number of players, the last person to have submitted their list [UPDATE: of the most numerous faction] will be dropped.:weep:
 • You will have 100 words to describe your deployment (no maps), and 200 words to cover your tactics. This is PER BATTLE, not for the whole votewar... You're allowed to write "conditional deployment" ("if I'll deploy 2nd and my opponent does this, i'd reserve everything otherwise i'd castle on his weakest flank...") and "conditional tactics" (keep this at a general level tho: "if i lose more than half my transports" is ok, "if i lose my 2nd meltagunner from squad B" is not). Try to help your voters understand how you'd play :male-fighter1:
 • If you post AT ALL in a thread your army is in, you will lose that round automatically counting as 10 votes against, none in favour. Any notes you want adding, PM me about it. If people are under a misapprehension as to your tactics or your list generally, maybe you should have been clearer! Bitch to your heart's content in this thread, but only AFTER your match has finished.
 • Each round I'll be putting people up against a random opponent, and we'll have 4 rounds. You'll know beforehand your opponent list, the game map, eventual special rules and who goes first/second. There will NOT be any chance to seize the first turn.
 • Each round will last for a week to allow for arguments, counter arguments, and name-calling. You can change your vote at any time. Just make it clear and beyond any doubt! (only the vote in bold font counts, read below for details)
 • While one round is up for voting, players will get details of the next round so you'll also have a week to give me the deployment/tactics info ready.:jump:
 • Votes as usual must be in bold, and posted along with a reason. It doesn't have to be good mind you, just written down. Crap reasons will have no negative repercussions aside from your peers thinking you are an idiot. :bulgy-eyes:
 • Each victory is awarded with 3 points, a draw 1 point, a loss 0 points.
 • If at the end of turn 4 there will be 2 or more players with the same points, there will be an extra round. If there will be another draw, the victory will be awarded with the list with the most interesting background. If a tie occurs again, i'll pick the winner by my personal choice.

What do you need for registration
1. Send me a list via email at luca [dot] sottani (at) hotmail {dot} it, subject "LO ListWar" + the name of your army, with the following format
 • HQ, then Elites, then Troops, then Fast attack, then Heavy support
 • Each entry must have the total price written nearby the name. I don't care for the individual cost of each upgrade, thank you (ex: Veterans "Black Tears" (85 pts)
 • Each entry must have all the upgrades listed below it, one row per upgrade kind (3x meltaguns = 1 row)
2. Write in this thread your registration.

You have not a limit on your background length, but try to not go below 3 full sentences and above 1500 words
You can provide a "default deployment" and a "default tactics" just in case you'd might skip the deadline.

Please write here if you want to enlist or simply for Questions
Have fun!

NOTE: there aren't real life prizes for the winner :( , only an healthy dose of bragging rights and eternal glory in this subforum. If, however, the admins might like this project, i'll kindly ask them to give you a shiny medal :D

Im always up for a little votewar!! I did not even see your other thread until today :p

Will send an e-mail as soon as i can be ass'd

Oh and I think you should limit the amount of people that can enter under a certain codex, just to keep everyone from submitting GKs cheese :p

-Poke-

P.S. you come across as a little cranky in your post, perhaps a few more smilies :D they always work for me :)

Thank you for the tip :) I am not a native english speaker so it seems I can't properly judge the tone of my writing, I'll fix it asap.

About the codex limitation, I don't think I'll use it, at least not if this project receives a lot of submissions :)
Maybe If there are odd players, I'll discard the last subscriber from the most numerous faction!

I just can't believe i skipped to write WHEN this was supposed to start, lol, what such a big fail on my part. I suppose it got cut off during a post edit :(

It was supposed to start at the beginning of June, but I now have to postpone it to the 1st of July.

Anyway, only 1 so far has sent his list :(

are you still accepting lists? I was kinda busy last month (sadly school and work comes before games) and would still like to participate because now that the projects are out of the way and exams are almost done i have more free time. Though if you are not i understand, due dates and all.

I will be submitting my list also in the near future... Can I suggest that you make a thread in the Announcements Forums to help advertise, perhaps even in the General W40K forum? Also anyone that is keen on making this happen please add a link in your signature to this thread as Frost89 already has (as a co-conspirator/creator of fluffwars, I know to well how much a little advertising can help :))
