Doctrines: Close Order Drill has been selected for CC purposes only. It is highly suicidal to deploy in B2B contact. As there is no fast moving counterattack when I need an edge in assault COD will come into play. Otherwise the Break-Shoot-Break tactic is a better option. Deployment: The infantry squads are deployed depending on which units are the biggest threat to the enemy. Those that are a high threat get first dibs on the best cover available (assuming ample firing lanes are present also) while the less dangerous units get the task of drawing failed LD fire and absorbing intitial enemy assaults and attempting to draw fire in general. The two Heroic Senior Officers are placed out of sight to cover 40"- 48" inches worth of deployment zone with LD 10 while the other Juniors mop up any holes with their own LD 8. They also get the task of charging anything that is nasty and is cleaving lots of guardsmen nearby. The two Leman Russes form an armoured shield wall for the Basilisk if there is not enough cover to hide it, that way the Bassie blasts what the Russes can't see, and the Russes blast whatever gets within minimum range for the Bassie. All the while the Hellhound rumbles around and makes a pest of itself to draw AT fire from the shield wall. Tank Synergy if I say so myself. Against assault specialist armies I prefer to deploy in a refused flank with the infantry (108 guardsmen pulp most things in CC, especially since it's had to weather their fire) while the tanks take the other flank and catch the charging enemy in template crossfire. ---------------------- Imperial Guard (BETA List) HQ: 665 Elites: 160 Troops: 658 Fast Attack: 0 Heavy Support: 367 Doctrines: Light Infantry Special Weapon Squads Heavy Weapon Platoons Special Equipment: Cameleoline Iron Discipline 5x man Heroic Senior Officer Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 4x Grenade Launchers Heroic Senior Officer: Storm Bolter; Powersword, Surveyor, Iron Discipline 6x man Special Weapon Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Laspistols & close combat weapons; 2x Flamers; 1x Demo Charge 6x man Special Weapon Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Laspistols & close combat weapons; 2x Flamers; 1x Demo Charge 6x man Fire Support Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Heavy Weapon Teams with Autocannon & Lasgun 6x man Fire Support Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Heavy Weapon Teams with Autocannon & Lasgun 6x man Anti Tank Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Heavy Weapon Teams with Lascannon & Lasgun 10x man Hardened Veterans Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 4x Lasguns; 3x Plasma Guns; 1x Heavy Weapon with Lascannon & Lasgun Veteran Sergeant: Stormbolter, Meltabombs 5x man Junior Officer command squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 4x Plasma Guns Junior Officer: Surveyor, Iron Discipline, Lasgun 10x man Infantry Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 6x Lasguns; 1x Plasma Gun; 1x Heavy Weapon Team with Lascannon & Lasgun Veteren Seargent: Lasgun 10x man Infantry Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 6x Lasguns; 1x Plasma Gun; 1x Heavy Weapon Team with Lascannon & Lasgun Veteren Seargent: Lasgun 5x man Junior Officer command squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 4x Plasma Guns Junior Officer: Surveyor, Iron Discipline, Lasgun 10x man Infantry Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 6x Lasguns; 1x Plasma Gun; 1x Heavy Weapon Team with Lascannon & Lasgun Veteren Seargent: Lasgun 10x man Infantry Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 6x Lasguns; 1x Plasma Gun; 1x Heavy Weapon Team with Lascannon & Lasgun Veteren Seargent: Lasgun 5x man Junior Officer command squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 4x Plasma Guns Junior Officer: Surveyor, Iron Discipline, Lasgun 6x man Anti Tank Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Heavy Weapon Teams with Lascannon & Lasgun 6x man Anti Tank Squad: Light Infantry; Cameleoline; 3x Heavy Weapon Teams with Lascannon & Lasgun Tactics: The entire force infiltrates & has a 1 better armor save from cover. Imperial guard win :shifty: Imperrial guard beta list. The IG beta list can infiltrate all over the baord, most likely in the center to win the game. The other IG list isnt very mobile. The shooting is largly ineffective, whats a battle cannon to a 4+ save on a model who is so worthless he doesnt even have a point cost. Now, that allows them to use and get, way more squads in cover then normal, plus they start out holding the objective. The other IG list isnt mobile either. 10 lascannons from the beta list and 4 MLS can really hurt the enemy tanks, espeically considering they are placed after, allowing for shots on side armor. Or rooting out where the basolick is. After that it would come down to an infantry VS infantry firefight, where the beta list has a clear advantage, they hold the objective, so they dont need to move, and they've got a good cover save. THus they win. Oh yea, god point. Beta Imerial gaurd win, looks like i out smarted myself on that one... Last edited by ForgedInTheFurnaceOfWar; April 23rd, 2006 at 05:17.. |

Well think of it this way. Which IG list can even get to the objective? The beta list deploys on it. The alpha list: Well, the tanks can move up for it. Pretty much every other squad is imobile. If the tanks move for it, they arent as good at shooting, plus they will be exposed to yet more shooting, from the 10 lascannons. So basically the Alpha list has to kill the entire beta list for them to win. The beta list just has to hold on, if they happen to kill the alpha list, well victrious slaughter to them, but really all they have to do is stop the alpha list from killing them. Much easer then actually removing the opponent army. Peace |

Rep Power: 48 ![]() | beta list -both lists are just as good, but beta gets to infiltrate onto the objectives, while alpha has to walk, which cripples their shooting. thus, beta list wins.

I agree, both list are pretty good, but beta has a clear advantage in actually achieving the scenerio being able to infiltrate onto the objective. It's also possable for them to set up everything not on the objective on a single flank of the other lists forces, limiting the full effect of the alpha lists firing, while using their full force against them. Beta Wins due to Scenerio Advantage

List B can easily down the single Hellhound. Once it has done so cameleoline and infiltrating onto the objective can stand it in good stead. Russ' aren't at thier best against Cameleoline hordes. The flamers of the infiltrating Spec Squads sould cause some consternation and confusion. However the Alpha list also has Hardened Veterans which can infiltrate, if they win the roll to infiltrate first and put thier HV's on the objective Beta is in trouble. So infiltrate isn't a part trick only available to B. So I don't know who to go for yet.

Aww crap! *Throws his hat on the ground* Beta list has the tactical advantage here, there's no way I can deny it as much as I love my lads. At least we lost out to another IG army. Editors Note: Vote thrown out.

Rep Power: 48 ![]() | Imperial Guard WIN :ninja: Well this is a tough one. It all depends on the terrain. ALPHA List will do well in a more open terrain because of their many heavy weapons, tanks and their Basilisk. BETA List will do well in a more covered board because of the Camaloine Cloaks and some closer range weapons (flamers, demo-kits, plasma guns, etc. - SHORT RANGE FOR A GUARD ARMY). BUT with the autocannon and lascannons I feel that they could also hold their ground in open terrain. Therefore my votes goes to BETA because of its overall preformance. They also have more guys in which to swamp the objective. BTW, for the ALPHA guy, my current army looks A LOT like that list! :ninja: Ghost
