How about a series of symbols. They don't have to be specific. The player would state in
his text what each symbol referred to before the battle maps were displayed.
Example: 2 of Diamonds=Leman Russ Battle Tank
3 of Clubs=3rd Squad of Platoon A
Although I'm not suggesting we use playing cards, hopefully you see what I mean.
WD used to do it all the time.
Bull Skull=Unit of Ork Goffs.
Ect.
I realize though that there could be only one symbol set so it would have to be pretty generic.
