I run my winged HT with warp field all the time. I have yet made one invulerable save, but it has save me many of times when I had only one wound left on my HT from bolter fire and hth combat( I would roll 2's on my save alot times). So for me it has been a need but if you can roll 3's alot then do not take it. Myself I will always take it on my flying HT.
