Sorry, still learning to use this forum, so I can't split up the quote but I'll just respond as I can.
First, I have the drawbacks I promise! I just didn't mention. I chose Eye to Eye and Have Faith in Suspicion.
Secondly, I bought the terminator Chaplain and I figured that since he has Terminator Armor I would have to put it in his points along with honors so that he can use the armor (Though with my luck I probably misread baaadly), and I have only three melta bomb bits which I put on my assault squad.
Yea, don't know if I need a venerable model to have a Venerable dreadnought (rather than just having a regular dreadnought and CALLING it venerable...) So I just kept him Heavy Support.
That is how I meant my tacticals, least I didn't screw them up. I just wish I had another melta bit.
The Non-Jumpjet Assault units are there because I don't have enough actuall assault backpacks and I had a Battle squad of tactical marines I wanted to be meant for close combat. A friend of mine reccommended just calling them assault troops and having the pistol + melee combo, while powering up the sergeant. In game I could attatch my Chaplain and have a powerhouse small squad.
The assault squad with the jumpjets I simply don't have enough guys hehe. I could go buy some, but my point cost would have to be adjusted, and I don't know where I'd drop some of them. Maybe the scout squad...? Or my jumpjet-less assault squad...
I actually have the scouts with regular bolters, as I meant them for a minor ranged distraction paired with the heavy bolter.
And I don't like the Rhinoooo! But I need some kind of armor, and with limited budget that keeps me with the Rhino 'til I can afford a predator, razorback, or something else.
And I was trying to put together an army that could lay down fire without getting massacred in a close combat, hence True Grit. I also want to lay more emphasis on Dreadnoughts than other armor, but that's for the future (Again, limited budget.) Right now I have enough resources for perhaps the purcahse of one more unit, be it a vehicle or some other models.

Terminator Honors AND armor? Why spent more points on the Chaplain? Take off the Honors and give him Melta bombs and have 10 extra points! So a Reclusiarch with Terminator Armor, SB, Rosarius and Crozius Arcanum come to 115 pts and he has 4 attacks!
The Dread with the config you're saying here goes up to 115pts and it is counted as Heavy support! So the extra 10 from the Reclusiarch goes to 0!
I think you will have the Tacticals more as a fire support and objective holders with the weapons you have given to them! The first squad with the Flamer = 196 pts and the second with the Melta = 200 pts.
Assault squads without Jump Packs! Good idea but you have to use the cover and correctly positioned fire support to make their way into CC... so this team is up to 131 pts with this config!
Only 5 Assaulties will be shredded to pieces... when you can expand to full 10-man squad! So this team as you have gave it here is 150 pts... and the total so far 907 pts!
Without putting down their configuration I think they have bolt pistols and CCW and the Heavy Bolter! Nice for tackling units before entering into CC or locking enemy units into CC to buy some time! So this team is 70pts.
And the Rhino must be assigned to a squad! It is not a taxi (as it says in the codex!)...
It is more than 1000 pts. Needs some work but against some armies if you can stand the long shooting and get into CC (I am thinking Tau here) you can beat them! |
