I don't have any qualms about recommending that you to buy AI and in fact buy two armies so you can offer one to an opponent who doesn't yet play! That way you may well find you gain more people's interest!
The rule about GW shops not playing Spec. Games is pathetic! Have a word or two with your "friendly" local manager about this on Vets night and you may find he's happy with the idea.
If he's not ask him why FW exists if not to promote the GW hobby!
If he still doesn't allow you to play AI take the largest sharpest spikiest model that GW sell, unwrap the blister or box and then insert it in said manager the hard way, until he agrees to let you play! They can be a bunch of petty-minded beligerant pratts at times!
And it's only fair that we learn from their example, but show them that Vets do it better! He he!
