My plan for my dwarf army is that there are going to be two families, (The Bronzebeards and the Barleybrews.. Or something like that) banded together to avenge old grudges.. I have two thanes that will act as the two family Patriarchs (Barik The Slovenly and Vilir The Drunk), and will eventually get a Dwarf Lord, who will be the brave lad who has banded em all together..
Now there are a few things I would like to know,
Would this actually be a likely thing to happen?
What else would I be missing?
How are dwarf armies normally formed?
What are some dwarf-ish.. Names for the various 'important' people in the clan?
Is there any other fluff I should know? (Particularly funny/relevant fluff)
Also, please point me to any sites/etc that would have extensive dwarf fluff.
EDIT: I Just raged so hard. After googling both "Bronzebeard" and "Barleybrew" I have learned that they are both last names of NPCs in WoW. URRRGH.

I DO LIKE A GOOD GRUMBLE!
As far as names go, I normally look up Norse/Viking names and base my character names off these. Just find a name you like and juggle some letters around until you get what you want.
And I deffinitly think that this could be something that could happen. Especially since alot of clans were almost wiped out and forced to move to other holds with other clans. Almost anything is possible with fluff. A suggestion would be to have one family dedicated to your warriors and other melee fighters and the second family dedicated to your shooters and artillery. One family perhaps learned their skills through hit and run tactics or somthing.. anyways here ya go. Hope I helped.
yes, its pretty common in fact. dwarven clans will regularly band together to avenge common grudges or forfil promises/debts/oaths.Would this actually be a likely thing to happen?can't think of anything really.... its about on the dot.What else would I be missing?dwarf armies are formed of a millitia. all warriors, quarrellers thunderers, miners and engineers are all part time soldiers. when war was looming the lord/king would muster his throng and all able dwarves would turn up for battle with their own personal armour and weapons.How are dwarf armies normally formed?
clans will often form their own regiments and units on the battlefield.
the only standing troops in the dwarf army are the ironbreakers, the longbeards and the hammerers. each of these units are excused from their regular duties and crafts in order to train more often.
the engineers guild will gennerally provide the warmachines and the kin, though its not unknown for more isolated holds to purchase their own warmachines if the engineers guild doesn't have a significant presence.Kings = top dogWhat are some dwarf-ish.. Names for the various 'important' people in the clan?
Thanes = lesser nobility
thats... about it. you of course have the guild specific titles such as runesmiths/runelords and engineers/master engineers.your best bet is the dwarf army book, however if you get the chance try digging through the older dwarf army book, i find it superior as far as fluff goesIs there any other fluff I should know? (Particularly funny/relevant fluff)
