The Reiksstadt of Talabheim
Talabheim is situated in the middle of the Empire's Great Forest, which is notoriously infested with bandits, goblins and beastmen. Talabheim and the major roads leading to and from it, are the only havens of safety in this untamed area, and as such talabheim is sometimes referred to as 'the eye of the storm'. The city lies along the banks of the river Talabec, from which the city takes its name, inside a huge crater. This crater contains not only the city itself, but extensive farmlands as well. The Talabec, Great Forest and the crater walls make for a truly formidable natural defense, which is further augmented by several fortresses and lookout posts along the rim of the crater.
Talabheim is one of the Empire's most important cities, on a par with with Nuln and Middenheim and second only to Altdorf. The city is a part of the province of Talabecland, and as such it officially owes allegiance to the Elector Count of Talabecland. However, Talabheim is such an influential power in the region that the city is controlled by a single individual called the Stadthalter. While this function was originally based on election by the city council, it has stayed with the family of the Drachenhofs for over 7 generations and so has become more or less hereditary. The current Stadthalter is Kurt Drachenhof IV.
Talabheim has a strong military, which is divided in 24 regiments of more or less the same strength, and the Provosts. The regiments are primarily responsible for defending the walls and fortresses from attack and are also sent abroad in the Emperor's service. They form the main strength of the Talabheim military and are all clad in the town's livery of dark red and white. The provosts are charged with keeping order in the city itself, and are an elite formation that support the town lawkeepers. They rarely leave the confines of Talabheim on official bussiness, and on the rare occasion that they do it is to provide an escort or bodyguard to some town official. They are clad in the town livery, but with distinctive black cloaks, and are traditionally armed with swords and pistols.
Talabheim is home to one of the two Arch-Lectors of Sigmar, and as such the Ordo Sigmar is very influential. There is a small minority that worships Ulric, god of the White Wolf, and there is a fairly large group of people that follow the Cult of Taal. This is to be expected in the city which takes its name from this deity however, and does not overly worry the Priests of Sigmar.
The river Talabec bears many ships to and from Talabheim every day, and this has substantially increased the wealth of the city. Because of the farmlands inside the crater, Talabheim has always had more than enough food for its population, and the Great Forest and Talabec provide ample building materials. Surplus food and building materials are traded with Altdorf and Marienburg for all sorts of other goods, and with Nuln in exchange for cannons and mortars for the Talabheim Regiments.
I believe he said point him to it, not post it. If this stuff is Copyrighted by GW then it needs to be removed immediately.
Sorry about that... but it was not copyrighted on the place I got it from, think it was a Warhammer RPG fan page.
I'm assuming this comes from the Critical Hit site? If so GW have had some problems with them and removed most their 40K fluff as it was exactly copied from WDs, I shall leave this up as they have not removed the FB stuff, AFAIK.
No, it is not from Critical Hit
If it was from Critical Hit, it would be a lot more information.
