A couple of months ago me and my friends started a special game based on WWII. Each country has a different race and we drew straws for who we were, and lucky me, im Nazi Germany. We are doing all assets of a modern army so im gonna have to add a PanzerWaffen, kriegsmarine, and Luftwaffe. We got by for the first two months without really using them much or just improvising but we set deadlines for the major battles and im kicking my friends fat Russian(Kislev) buddys ass on the Eastern front. I am empire btw, but prtty soon we are coming up to the Battle of Kursk and those who know WWII know it was the biggest tank battle in history, so, my question is what would be best to use for it. I am fortunate since we decided to make Empire Germany because it had an excellent chance of filling the Panzerwaffens role with its many artillery but i need some input(btw friend is going to do same artillery, less stats as a factor of superior German engineering).
Thx for the help

I can't help but to think that 40k would have been a much better medium to make WW2 Russian/German armies.
I mean, how are you going to represent tanks?
And the mechanics of WHFB are vastly different to the tactics/stlye that was used in WW2
Indeed.. even a steam tank isn't exactly going to work in a blitzkrieg, there are only 5 of them, or something obscene like that.
It's a bit wierd.. could work very well for 40k, but fantasy?
Seems like a really cool idea , the warhammer version of risk (European theatre of
war) I do have some ideas you might be able to try since I myself am starting fantasy
and have had a fascination with both world wars.
I would guess you could contrast and compare to what would be the most
likely replacement for luftwaffe or panzier german tiger tanks.
Panzier division tankwise = knights, wizards, hard hitting and fast moving
calvalry should be a decisive collection
For luftwaffe = flying machines, built by dwarves, or flying creatures such
as eagles, gryphons.
This would have to be in house rules of course due to the fact that you would
have to invent stats for your dwarven machinery.
For tank battles you could just toss out the required unit choices for any given
amount of points and just duke it out with knights vs infantry or whatever the
Germans ran into during that time period.
Edit: Second thought, have you considered using Bretonia rules and phasing both
armies together that way you could have both at your disposal.

I belive that there are only 12 functioing steam tanks.
WH is a strange choice for a tank Orientated army. Much easier to go with a IG mechanised company.
 Are you sure? As far as I remember, there were originally 12 steam tanks built, but 'currently' there are only 8 functioning tanks (the others having been lost or destroyed beyond repair).Originally Posted by harlequin2262

Yes, that sounds correct.
back on topic....
mage& flyers= luftwaffe
since ur germany try and maybe stay focued on quality>quantity. use harder hitting infantry and definitely hard hitting cavalry
id pick no artillery at all...helps keep the fluf better- take a DOW cavalry unit instead(sure germans didnt use allies in dat battle BUT it allows u to beef ur ur "tanks")
keep us updated man, sounds pretty sweet
