Dark elves win the roll for table edge, and decide to setup on the top of the board. The beastmen ambush both smaller herds, the 16 strong herd, and the bray shaman. After deployment finshes, it looks like this:
CLICK BELLOW TO VEIW DEPLOYMENT
Characters are deployed as follow:
High sorceress - woth crossbows
Sorceress - with darkriders
Beastlord - in big herd
BSB - Big herd
Bray - ambushing
Beasts movement: The entire line moves forwards, with the Tzaangors taking the hill in front, and the screamers swooping around to face the Dark riders.
Magic: The banner of wrath killed 5 crossbows as the first spell, foolishly let through. Red fire was dispeled from the beastlord, as was greenfire. One scroll down....Red fire from the BSB then killed 4 darkriders.
Druchii Movement: Shades moved to draw sight to the Screamers, and Menghil moved to target the minotaurs. Darkriders moved in front of the screamers, landing about 18 inches away. The rest stays put for shooting, and the harpies ready themselves for the ambushers.
Magic: The bray in ambush meant 1 less dispel dice, and it helped a little. Doombolt was cast onto to Screamers by the Sorceress, causing 3 wounds. Wind of death from the high sorceress targeted the big herd, but was dispeled. She has to settle for dark hand of death, killing a single ungor.
Shooting - All 3 RBT's opened up their volley shot against the giant, but only caused 2 wounds. Crossbows failed to hurt the Tzaangors, as did Lifetaker. the Shades caused one wound on the Screamers, dropping their numbers to 3. Meghil and his boys removed 8 wounds from the minotaurs, who then paniced.
Beasts movement: Ambusher take their positon surrounding the Darkelves, but cant pass a single LD check. The bray scatters behind the bestmen line, to the left (well away from the action), one small herd lands on the left board edge, and one manages to get right in behind the left most RBT. At least one did what they were told...
The chariot decides to risk the terrain damage, to charge Menghil. This causes only 2 wounds on the chariot, and so they are locked. Screamers charge into darkriders, who down a further Screamer with a Stand and Shooting reaction. 2 left.
After the Minos rally, the rest on the line advaces within charge range, the giant positioning itself to flank if the corsairs dare charge the Tzaangors.
Magic: Banner of wrath was dispeled on a single die. Red fire ravaged the shades, killing 2 and then panicing them. Blue fire from the BSB was dispeled. Greenfire was dispeled again, and thats the phase.
Combat: The chariot managed 3 impact hits, only killing 2 manflayers. The only other hit was scored by the ungor crew, but was deflected by heavy armour. Menghil then drew his poisined Greatweapon and put the Chariot onto its last wound. The chariot loses, but holds.
The screamers hit 3/4 attacks, but failed ALL to wound rolls! After losing combat, they pop after rolling 9 on the LD check. Dang.
Druchii Movement: The harpies decide to charge to beastmen near the RBT, and face them towards the table edge, hoping to buy some time. Corsairs charge into the Tzaangors, hoping the RBT's can take care of the giant.
Darkriders swoop near the Big herd, hoping for some Doombolt action. Shades fail to rally, and come with 2 inches of the edge.
Magic: Doombolt slew another ungor from the Big herd, While wind of death downed another 2. Walking death was attempted on the Corsairs, but dispeled, thanks to 6 dispel dice.
Shooting - The Crossbows targeted the Giant, causing one wound, Lifetaker causing another. One RBT finished off the remaining two wounds, and the giant was dead. The other two RBTs opened up against the big herd, but their skermished formation protected them well, and only 2 more ungors dropped. Darkriders targeted the Bigherd too, but missed everything.
Combat - Menghil finished off the chariot, but not before taking a single wound himself from a boar. NOW they wound something! Corsairs inflice 2 wounds onto the Tzaangors, while they only kill 1 in return. Tzaangors hold. Dang.
4 of the hapies are turned to guts, having killed no beastmen. The last remaining Harpy flees, the Herd withstains from pirsuit (They could've ended up off the board has they failed. Tzeentch saw the potential in these guys...)
Beasts Movement: The Beastlords unit fails it unruly check, and is forced to join the fight against the corsairs. The Small beastherd at the top, then charged the left most RBT, who holds. Minos charge menghil, but are slaughtered in a Stand and Shoot charge reaction.
Hounds and the other small herd take up positons to hold Table Quarters, while the Bray and his herd moved forward towards the Dark riders.
Magic: Dark Hand and Wind of Death were attempted by the Bray against the Dark riders. Both were dispeled, but this just lay the way for the beastlord...Indigo fire then ravaged the Spearmen. 6 were killed. The Horrors created then killed another 8 spearelves, reducing them to no rank bonus. Magic missiles were out of equation for the BSB, so the phase ends there.
Combat: The spearmen popped the horrors in one round, while the Corasirs were promptly broken and caught by the Beastlord and his unit, while the tzaangors held, ready to charge to spearmen. The breastlord was now exposed in front of the Darkelf line. The Beastherd fighting the RBT smashed both crew, running into the flank of the Crossbow unit.
Druchii movement: The Shades rally, but cant do anything else. The Darkriders with the Sorceress moved upto the Bray's herd, ready to Soul Steal. Menghil moved into positon to open fire against the Beastlord.
Magic: This was the do or die phases for the druchii. The sorceress successfuly cast Soul Stealer into the bray and his herd, killing 4 ungor, and 3 gor. Panic check passed. The High Sorceress then attempted Drain life...success! Targeting the herd in combat with her unit...1 hit scored! no wound caused. Dang. Against the Beastlord unit...6 hits! 5 wounds later, and a panic check was needed. Passed again. (That was the do or die part..)
Shooting: Manghil and the two other RBT's score enough wounds on the Big Herd for another panic check...passed again!
Combat: The small herd fighting the Crossbows caused no hits at all, bouncing off due the high ground.
This is basicly were the report ends. The beastlord and his remaining gors smash appart the Crossbows, along with the High Sorceress. Tzaangors also smash the spears apart. The bray uses Wind of Death to finsh off the Sorceress and Darkrider with 11 s4 hits. The rest then proceeds to fall with no magic defence.
RESULT - SOLID WIN TO THE BEASTMEN
Things learnt: Meghil is one tough cookie. Given enough magic defense, he is quite survivable, since his Scout ability allows to deploy away from enemy wizards. All depends if those spells need line of sight, and their range, too. Tzeentch lore was easy enough to hide from. Heavens or life tho...
The Beastlord of Tzeentch geared up for combat is brutal. 5 spells level 4 wizard makes him great in the magic phase, and when its time to fight, he can hold hold his own against anything. I dont think Ill bother with the Staff of change for this reason.
Well, hoped you enjoyed the report.
Good report, but wheres the rest of it?
Ah, I think i screwed up the copy-paste. Hang on....
There we go!
Thanks, and as I said before, good report
