As the forces of the Dwarf Lord Gunnerson approach a copse of trees, he finds the large force of Wood Elves he has been warned of in the area. Quickly aligning his forces, the dwarves catch the wood elves before they are quite prepared to start the battle. The dryads try to valiantly screen the elves from fire as they prepare for battle only one unit slightly misjudging the line of sight of a bolt thrower.
Only one war machine is able to get setup in time to fire on a unit of wild riders. One rider dies to a heavy bolt, but the other bolts fly aimlessly high over the heads of their targets, while the organ gun shoots a dud. The Dwarven foot troops file forward towards the foe, while the gyrocopter leads the way forward, and the rangers lurk out of sight in the woods.
The wood elves take the light opening salvo of the dwarves as a sign from Kornous that the day will go well. They surge forward, and unleash a hail of arrows at the thunderers, just now getting their guns loaded for use. Eight dwarves fall to the hail of doom arrow from the noble, and some archer shots, and decide that they are really much too close to the elves and run back some in a militaristic disorganized mob. The noble on the right decides to reconnoiter the forest nearer the dwarf line and discovers a unit of dwarves planning an ambush, and staying out of sight, plans his own.
The dwarves finally having there warmachines ready for action, decide to cause some damage. The eagle on their left flank is cleanly skewered by the bolt thrower on that side. There will be foul for dinner tonight they believe. The organ gun causes a glancing wound on the other eagle. The centre bolt thrower kills a warhawk rider, and the gyrocopter flies in behind the archers, killing 3 and hitting the elf highborn on the other side of the archers who ducks out of the way at the last minute. Then there is heard a commotion behind the elf line. Out of the ground pops a unit of miners, quickly coming to the aid of their brethren. Seeing that the tide seems to be turning in their favour, the thunderers decide that they will rejoin the fight, they were just getting into a more advantageous position after all. Much to the dwarves chagrin, the archers hit by the gyrocopter decide that they really don't want to hang around in that vicinity and run off towards the centre of the battlefield.
The highborn can now see what tried to hit him and is none to pleased with it. Pulling out his great weapon, he decides to turn it into a heap of scrap metal with three great slices, his momentum carrying him well past the heaping pile of smoldering iron. The archers, seeing the smoking pile of metal, decide that they have run far enough. The noble on the wood elf right flank charges into the rangers he stumbled upon earlier. He downs two of the smelly things, but they still look a little forboding. He decides to stay and keep them occupied anyway, so the rest of the army doesn't have to worry about them. The archers having heard the commotion behind them spin around and open fire on the miners, killing three of them. The remaining eagle charges at a bolt thrower just to keep it occupied, the battle is a draw. And the warhawk riders, seeing all their comrades getting involved decide to take it to the thunderers. They charge in with all there fury, and then charge out again wondering what got into them.
Seeing there flying metal marvel lying in a heap really makes the dwarves mad. The hammerers charge at the glade riders who rode up last turn and thumbed their noses at the dwarves, "nah, nah, you can't catch me." Lord Gunnerson pulls out an old trick and throws some apples to the horses as he charges. The horses really like apples and are slow to respond to the elves trying to get them to run away, and are cut down by the dwarves. Meanwhile back in the woods, the ranger champ challenges the noble to personal combat. The noble proceeds to show him what combat really is like, and seeing their valiant leader decimated, the rangers turn tail and run, only to be caught and scattered by the quick noble. The eagle takes revenge on the bolt thrower crew for the death of his kin, and runs down the one who tries to get away. One bolt thrower kills the last warhawk rider, while the other backs away from the dryads approaching it. The organ gun takes out a couple of wild riders.
The archers take aim at the longbeards, killing three of them. The wood elves now decide that they don't want the organ gun to stay around so the wild riders charge in and destroy it. In their wild victory frenzy they fly past the destroyed crew and machine and end up right in the back of the longbeards. The highborn and noble both charge the miners, both get two kills, and run past.
The remaining bolt throwers take out an eagle, and a glade rider. The wild riders fighting the longbeards sober up enough to realize they don't want to be there. The two survivors decide that warmachines are much more important targets and run away to realign themselves.
Getting desperate the dwarf lord uses his most powerful magic item, targeting the archers, he makes them realize that running away would be a good idea. They head for the hills. The generals unit, yeah she has been hiding err… leading from the dryad unit on the left flank, now instructs her unit to take out the all important bolt thrower in front of them. The wardancers charge into the thunderers. Both the dryads and wardancers run off into the sunset after their stunning victories, cheering wildly. The wild riders rally, err… reform facing the bolt thrower.
The two dwarf units start spinning around looking for someone, anyone that wants a stand up fight. The bolt thrower takes out another glade rider.
The wild riders and glade riders charge the lone bolt thrower left. Shooting takes out a few more longbeards. The archers still under the effect of the dwarf magic item, run off into the sunset.
As the battle come to a close, the dwarves realize they won't get their toe to toe fight, with no artillery left, all they can do is hurl curses at the hated wood elves.
The wood elves don't wish to risk anymore casualties today and stay away from the dwarves, while peppering the remaining few with arrows. The longbeards are reduced to half strength as the day ends.
Solid victory and the chosen cup to the wood elves.

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
How in the world was that 2250 pts worth of dwarfs? Did i miss something. Nicely done if it was but it seems like they should have had a few more units for that size a game.
So he had the points, just maybe not in the right places. He told me after the game that he was expecting a treeman so he tooled up to handle it. When it didn't show up, it did waste some of his points.
