Since me and a mate have decided to put a gaming table in my garage so we're not just limited to playing in GW stores and the gaming club, I thought I'd post the tables progress with a selection of reported battles that get played on the table.
The you should expect to see being used by me are Bretonnians, Vampire Counts, Daemons of Chaos and Wood Elves.
My friend who has just joined the forum using the name Plastic Lemon and is new to the hobby will be starting with Lizardmen.
The table is currently just a bit of chipboard with some bits of card, serving bowls and stones as terrain that may not look brilliant but work perfectly fine at the moment and will be improved as the series goes on. Not only will you see the progress of the table but I will initially be playing Wood Elves whilst painting them up and I hope Plastic Lemon will be motivated to paint his miniatures. Finally since Plastic Lemon is completely new to this you will hopefully see him improve as the series goes on.
So on to the first report. The lists were something like this of the top of my head.
Scar Vet with Jag charm and some other stuff
L2 Skink Priest with 2 Scrolls
5x 10 Skink Skirmishers
6 COR with F/C
20 Saurus with F/C
14 Sarus with F/C
Wood Elf List:
Alter Noble with Helm of Hunt, Stone of Crystal Mere, Great Weapon, LA, Shield
BSB Noble with Asyendis Bane, HoDA, Light armour
Spellsinger with Scroll and Calignors Stave
3x 10 Glade Guard
5 Wild Riders with Std, Warbanner (Glade Rider Models)
2x 5 Scouts
The Models are in a pretty poor state but that's because we just want to get some games played and it lets teach Plastic Lemon the rules, they will improve. I will give you my thought's during the game as unfortunately I can't read my opponents mind.
Here is the deployment
I placed my free wood in the middle to close off my left flank from Saurus and to push his deployment to my right so I could use my wood as a pivot.
The rest of the deployment was fairly generic as I would be out deployed due to 5 units of skinks going down first. Luckily I had 3 scouting units to react afterwards.
After LM 1st turn
The LM move forward
WE Turn 1
first turn kills a couple skinks and panic a unit on the right flank
LM Turn 2
Moves forward and salamanders wound alter
WE Turn 2
Dryads Charge Salamanders to stop them killing my elves, lose but hold.
Rest of the turns shooting kills some skinks. Alter charges skinks screening COR's, stand and shot to death, HoDA the COR kills does nothing.
LM Turn 3
Saurus are stuck with the Dryad vs Salamander combat which Dryads hold again.
COR move up with skink screen whilst the other Saurus unit sees that it wont achieve anything so starts to back off.
WE Turn 3
Some skinks are killed and the Dryads break the Salamanders which are run down and fall an inch short of Saurus.
Shooting kills some more skinks and 2 COR's
LM Turn 4
Saurus charge Dryads kill 1 and they break but don't get run down. COR fail charge at Wild Riders. Skink Priest moves onto hill to cast spells (mistake)
WE Turn 4
Wild riders charge COR and run down. Dryads rally. Shooting kills Skink Priest.
LM Turn 5
Saurus charge Dryads but fail fear test and some skinks shoot and miss Scouts
WE Turn 5
Shooting panics Skinks and a treesing wood in front of Saurus to stop charge.
LM Turn 6
Saurus move into wood and skinks fail to rally.
WE Turn 6
Sit and shout out the Lizards
End Game Shot
The game resulted in a massacre for the Wood Elves in a game that was dictated by a little combat in the centre of the board.
I lost the notes I made for this so it was from memory so I may have forgot some bits and we played 3 games that evening so it's not easy to remember every detail.
So there it is, the first report of many. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to comments.
