Lord Richard Holdengar was flying high above his army on his Hippogryph Swiftwind. His army had been sent by Gilles to help the humans vs the growing Chaos threat. A few nights ago his scouts had not returned. Their bodies were discovered, mutilated and skinned alive. Richard had seen the likes of this before, he had fought many battles in his lifetime and knew someone who derived such pleasure could only be Slaanesh. He recognized the cuts in the bodies were made with extreme precision and by Dark Elf blades. He remembered stories of several cults of Dark Elves that had become followers of Slaanesh and knew this was who his enemy was. He also knew this was a tactical ploy by the Slaanesh Elves to scare the enemy. He laughed at the foolishness of the Dark Elves in not knowing their enemy, because his knights would not be scared by such an act of cruelty. In-fact the opposite effect would take place, and his knights would be driven to avenge their fallen comrades. He saw small burned out village still smoldering, and knew the enemy was nearby. He surveyed an saw an endless horde of Slannesh warriors approaching. He landed in front of his troops and told them a horde of the Slannesh enemy is coming this way. We do not have to destroy them, but instead must delay them since another retinue of Knights is off to the south. If we can hold them until our knights arrive we will crush them and send them back to the hell from which them came. With that a loud cheer arose from his men and then he gave the order to prepare for battle…
The Dark Elf High Sorceress Eltra Blackheart watched at the Knights approached the field and then started to prepare for battle. She carefully, watched them to determine who was in charge. When she saw Richard land his Hippogryph she knew he was the one that must perish. She turned to the Anointed one and said, Kal, soon it will be time to kill again, very soon. Kal nodded his armored head in approval…

Battlefield Layout: (Bretonnian Perspective)
A small farmhouse, surrounded by a small stone wall with a small copse of tree on the outside of the wall. A hill and a small marsh. Across the field a Hill and small Smarsh.
Richard and Swiftwind behind the small barn and trees, next to the stone wall and between the hill, Edward and the Knights of Realm and next to them Thomas and the Questing Knights. Slightly behind the hill but still able to see most of the battlefield the Trebuchet setup, On the Small Hill Peaseant Bowmen, next to them on the ground Trelana and the Men at arms, next to them the Knight Errants and finally the Pegasus Knights behind the small Marsh.
Cult of Slaanesh:
Chaos Warriors Slaanesh, with Eltra behind them. Then, the Anointed One and his Cold One Knights, flanked by the Devoted of Slannesh. Across from them next to the marsh, the Daemonettes, on the other side of the Marsh, Mythia and the Dark Riders, flanked by the Mounted Daemonettes. And finally the Shades hidden behind the woods next to the smoldering farm house.
Prebattle – All of the Bretonnians dismounted and prayed to the Lady of the Lake. Eltra laughed and said, praying to a false god will not save you. Then she ordered her units to move out.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 1:
Kaldren commanded his unit of Cold One to move forward, but the stupid beasts failed to listen to their riders and stumbled forward on slightly. A few jeers and laughs from the Bretonnians sounded across the battlefield. Eltra moved forward behind her Shades. The Chaos Warriors moved up behind Eltra. The Devoted moved forward protecting the flank of the Cold Ones. The Daemonettes moved forward across the battlefield towards the Knights Errant and Trelana’s Men-At-Arms unit. While Mythia and the Dark Riders moved on the other side of the Marsh daring the Pegasus Knights to charge them. The Mounted Daemonettes moved down the flank preparing to charge the Knights Errant if they charged the Daemonettes.
Eltra casted Dominion on the Peasant Bowmen, but it was dispelled. Mythia casted chillwind on Trelana and she dispelled it with a dispel scroll. Mythia casted Dominion on the Pegasus Knights Trelana was helpless to stop it and the Pegasus Knights were frozen in place.
Bretonnians Turn 1:
With no enemies within charge range only moves could be done. Richard flew Swiftwind over the trees and landed behind them hopping to cause terror amongst the Shade and Eltra. Both, Edwards Knights of Realm, and Thomas’s Questing Knights moved their units backward slightly trying to stay out of the Anointed one and his Cold Ones Charge range. While the Knight errant moved forward preparing to charge the Daemonettes, their flank and rear covered by Trelana and her Men-At-Arms. The Pegasus knights were still locked in place by Dominion.
Trelana was unable to cast any spells as the Slaanesh Dark Elves stopped any of her attempts.
The Trebuchet openrf fire, but missed the Cold Ones and landing short in front of them. Richard pointed his Wyrmlance at the Shade and Flames erupted scorching 3 of them while the other turned and ran in fear. Finally, the bowmen on the hill opened fire and 2 Daemonettes vanished.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 2:
Eltra had seen worse then a Hippogryph in her days and was not affected by the large beast. While the Shades that ran, rallied now safely hidden behind the unit of Chaos Warriors. The Daemonettes continued forward into charge range of the Knight Errant. Mythia moved her unit around the Marsh and to the flank of the Pegasus Knights. The Mounted Daemonettes moved to the other side of the Marsh protecting the flank of the Daemonettes. Kaldren, the Anointed one moved his Cold Ones Knight forward into charge range of both the Knights of Realm and Questing Knights. Eltra moved through the woods and near the small house, still with line of sight on Richard and Swiftwind. The Devoted ones moved up next to Kaldren. Lastly, the Chaos Warriors turned toward Richard and put him in their charge range.
Eltra casted Dominion on Richard with Ultimate Force and both he and Swiftwind were frozen and unable to move. Kaldren failed to cast Black Horror at the Archers on the hill, but then casted Doom bolt on the Trebuchet crew, but the magic was unable to affect the crew. Eltra then casted Word of Pain on Edward and the Knights of the Realm, but this was stopped by Trelana. Lastly, Mythia casted Dominion on the Pegasus Knights and froze them in place.

Bretonnians Turn 2:
Edward gave the signal and his Knights of the Realm Lowered there lances and charged the Annoited one and his Cold One Knights. Edward was shocked when he saw the Annoited One turn his Unit and flee from the charge. What cowards these Slaanesh Elves were, he thought to himself. Then he saw the Dark Elf banner glow and suddenly they were turned around again. Luckily, for Edward and his unit, the Anointed One and His Cold Ones had run so far they were too far for a charge next turn. (He rolled a 17 for his flee roll). Thomas had thoughts about charging the Devoted following, but new if they ran which was likely he would be setup for a charge by the Anointed next turn. So held his unit and moved on slightly forward. One the other side of the battlefield the Knights Errant could not hold back and charged the Daemonette unit in front of them. Trelana reformed her Men-At-Arms towards the Pegasus Knights hoping to protect their flank. Richard desperately tried to get Swiftwind to move, but knew it was a futile attempt and prepared himself for the charge of the Chaos Warriors.
Once again, Trelana was unable to cast any spells.
The Trebuchet open fire on the Cold Ones and landed a rock on the left side crushing one of them. While the Archers on the hill opened fire at the Devoted and killed 2 more.
In Close Combat, the Knights Errant hit the Deamonettes and killed 5 on the charge with the horses killing 2 more. The Daemonettes failed to keep their hold on this plan and disappeared from existence. The Knights Errant overran and were now on the flank of the Anointed Cold Ones and Devoted Unit, plus they had moved just far enough they could not be charged by the Mounted Daemonettes.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 3:
Kaldren had used his banner successfully many times before, but this time it had failed. Stupid Cold Ones he thought to himself . The Devoted had seen Edward and his Knights fail to charge Kaldren and now they had come into charge range. The Devoted charged into Edward and his Knights of the Realm. While the Chaos Warriors saw Richard struggling with Swiftwind, and charged him and Hippogryph. Lastly, Mythia and her Dark Riders charged the still frozen Pegasus Knights. The Mounted Daemonettes moved around the marsh and also prepared to charge the Pegasus Knights. The Daemonettes reappeared on the battlefield. The Knights Errant champion could not believe his eyes as there stood another unit of Daemonettes on his flank. How many of this creatures are there, he thought to himself. The Shades made their way back to the cover of the trees. While Kaldren moved his Cold Ones to prepare for a flank charge on the Knights of the Realm.
Eltra casted Word of Pain on Thomas and his unit of Questing Knights who had suddenly gained arthritis and their joints failed to function correctly. Kaldren then casted Black Horror on the Archers on the hill. 7 of the archers perished, but the archers held the hill due to the strong leadership of Thomas nearby. Mythia then casted, Dominion on the Pegasus Knights, but with her last reserves Trelana stopped it.
In combat, the devoted attacked with blinding speed, but their weapons only penetrate one knights armour. In return, Edward hacked 2 devoted while 2 more were killed by the Knights of the Realm. The Devoted fled the combat, Edward saw that was just what Kaldren wanted if they chased they would be flanked by the devoted, and so he told his unit to hold hopping they could survive a charge from the front next turn. Richard on the other hand was encircled by the Chaos warriors, their halberds had inflicted 2 wounds on Swiftwind and one more on Richard. He was so overwhelmed he failed to kill any Chaos Warrior in return. Swiftwind could take no more and fled the combat with Richard. The Chaos Warriors chased him and forced him off the battlefield. Finally, Mythia and the Dark Riders attacked the flank of the Pegasus Knights. Only the Pegasus Champion could fight, but in a brave display he killed one of the Dark Riders. The combat was a draw.
Bretonnian Turn 3:
Edward saw Richard leave the battlefield being chased by the Chaos Warriors. He knew the men would now lose some of their fighting sprirt (His virtue would no longer work) Thomas moved his unit to protect the flank of Edward Knights. The three remaining archers, moved to the other side of the hill trying to get a shot on the Mounted Daemonettes and blocking the path to the Trebuchet. The Knights Errant Champion knew if his men saw the newly formed Daemonettes they would charge them next turn so he turned them away and towards the flank of Thomas and the Questing Knights. Trelana and her Men-At-Arms moved towards the trapped Pegasus Knights, knowing if they could hold another turn she could help them. Edward miscalculated the range to the Anointed his Cold Ones and thought to himself don’t get to hasty we must stall the enemy for as long as possible and so just moved backward next to Thomas and the Questing Knights.
Trelana, tried in vain to cast mistress of the marsh on the Mounted Daemonettes hoping to stop their charge on the Pegasus Knights, but it was dispelled.
The Trebuchet saw the Mounted Daemonettes preparing to charge the Pegasus Knights and lobbed a rock on top of them. The foul Mounted Daemonettes has a magic field however, and the rock deflected off of most of them only crushing one. The Remaining 3 archers fired also, but failed to hit anything.
Mythia, and the remaining Dark Riders attacked the Pegasus Knight champion he parried all but one blow and it penetrated his armor killing him. Stunned by this result the 2 remaining Pegasus Knights fled with the Dark Riders in chase.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 4:
The Devoted rallied and turned back to face the Questing Knights.
Kaldren saw that Edward and his knights chose to take the charge head on, and issued the command to charge. His Cold One and the rest of his unit charged into Edward and his Knights of the Realm. The Dark Riders now with the Trebuchet in their sights charged the machine. The Mounted Daemonettes moved back around the marsh and flanked both the Men-At-Arms and Knights Errant. The Daemonettes on foot moved forward putting themselves in charge range of the Knight Errant. The Chaos Warriors in their haste to kill had moved themselves far away from the combat and now moved around the stone wall by the house.
Eltra continued Word of Pain on the Questing Knights.
Eltra smiled as she saw Kaldren and his Cold One charge Edward. Kaldren sliced at Edward with unnerving speed. Edward was unable to parry all the blows and was toppled from his horse. With 3 more Knights of Realm impaled on the Dark Elf Lances. The Knights of Realm failed any wounds in return and fled only to be pursued and scattered by Kaldren and the Cold Ones ending next to Eltra on the opposite side of the wall between the hill on the flank of Thomas and the Questing Knights. Mythia and the Dark Riders charged into the 3 Archers and impaled them all on the spears. The over-ran towards the Trebuchet, but were not quite able to reach it.

Bretonnian Turn 4:
With Edward and Richard both gone. Thomas new he was the last Paladin remaining, it would be up to him to hold the Slaanesh for as long as possible. But he and his unit were still not able to move and with the Anointed and Cold One Knights on his flank it looked pretty hopeless. The Knights Errant were overcome with hate and charged the Daemonettes on foot. Trelana moved her unit of Men-At-Arms to the flank of the Mounted Deamonettes.
Trelana used all of her energy to dispel Word of Pain on the Questing Knights.
The Trebuchet knew they were going to be charged next turn. Caught a glimpse of Eltra now that the Knights of the Realm were gone and fired a large rock toward her. The rock was almost on target, but just missed Eltra (missed my partial roll). The rock did crush a Cold One Knight However and a small cheer went up from the Trebuchet crew.
The Knights Errant attacked the Daemonettes killing 6 of them with their horses killing 1 more. But the Daemons failed to leave this plan of existence and one still remained.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 5:
Kaldren and the Cold One Knights flank charged the spell weakened Thomas and his Questing Knights. The Mounted Daemonettes then flank charged the Knight Errant that were still in combat with the remaining Daemonette. The Dark Riders charged the Trebuchet. The Chaos warriors continued to try and get back into the battle, but were still just rounding the smoldering house. The Shades moved out of the trees, but had no one to shoot at.
Eltra casted Dominion on Trelana and her Men-At-Arms, but Trelana dispelled it.
Kaldren hacked down 1 Questing Knight, while his Cold One Knight lances failed to penetrate the Bretonnian Armour. In return, Thomas killed 2 Cold One Knights himself. But against all odds (Rolled a 17, and then using his Virtue and 1 The Questing Knights fled combat their strong warhorses outdistanced the pursing Anointed and Cold One Knights just barely. The Mounted Daemonettes attacked the Knights Errant, but failed to penetrate there armour. In return, the Knight Errant Champion killed 2 mounted Daemonettes showing incredible sword play. The other Knight Errants dispatched the final Daemonette on foot. The Mounted Daemonettes could no longer hold themselves on this plane and vanished. The Dark Riders and Mythia easily wiped out the 4 crewmen of the Trebuchet and destroyed the machine.
Brettonian Turn 5:
Rally roll for Thomas and the Questing Knights. This was the most important roll in the game because if failed they would surely flee off the table being so close to the edge, but Thomas showed great leadership and rallied his Questing Knights turning them to face the Anointed and the Cold One Knights. The Knights Errant charged the Flank of the Devoted. While Trelana and the Men-At-Arms moved to the flank of the Anointed and Cold One Knights. Preparing to charge them next turn.
Trelana failed to cast any spells.
The Knights Errant killed 5 devoted and their horses killed two more, amazingly the Devoted continue to fight on even though only a few remained.
Cult of Slaanesh Turn 6:
Kaldren and his few remaining Cold One Knights charged Thomas and the Questing Knights. Mythia and the Dark Riders moved to the flank of the Men-At-Arms. 2 new units entered the board the Daemonettes on foot and mounted Daemonettes. Eltra moved to get a better view of the battle but could not make it over the hilltop. The chaos warriors completed rounding the building but were still far from the combat.
Mythia, casted Black Horror on Trelana and the Men-At-Arms, but it was dispelled.
In Close Combat, A challenge was issued by the Questing Knight Champion, Kaldren Accepted and dispatched the champion, but the rest of the Cold Ones failed to penetrate the Questing Knights armour. And Thomas killed 2 more Cold Ones in return. Thomas and the Questing Knights had won the combat. Kaldren commanded his Cold One Knights not to flee, and they held fearing for their lives.
At this point my opponent conceded.
I still have 9 Knight Errant fighting a few remaining Devoted, 19 Men-At-Arm with my Level 2 wizard, and 7 Questing Knights with a Paladin. He didn’t think it was possible for him to kill everything I had by turn 8. I agree considering most of his units were no where near and combats.
A Bretonnian Massacre
Well gj, but there was lots of stuff tha tthe slaaneshi player did wrong. He didn't put any marks on his stuff unless he had to, he put an annointed on a cold one, where for 1 more point he could have put it on a steed, and many more things that I dont have time to say right now. Will add soon.
But GJ still.
Back from a long adventure.
So you have to expect some army building mistakes from him.
P.S. - What does GJ standard for
Good Job. And yeah your right. Its just not how I would have done it, so. He should have taken reaper bolt throwers, those go through brettonians so fast.
Back from a long adventure.
Yea I was shocked that he didn't take Reaper Bolt Throwers. But hey you never know who you'll face.
And thank the GJ description. You would think I could've figured that out.
This has to be quick, haven't got much time. For to CoS player, the Duchii anointed cannot take Speed of Slaanesh, he has to take the demonic gift quickening blood as more points. If you only have one sorceress she must use the lore of slaanesh. Give you hardest units the mark of slaanesh. Take a reper bolt thrower, loose the mounted daemonettes and add some spearmen or some crossbowmen. get the sorceress off the steed or at least dont put her with the dark riders. take some cheap units of marauders to give the flanks of the devotted some cover and to shield them from shooting. The deamonettes are a waste of points when you compare them the devoted of slaanesh and where on earth is the all conquoring Druchii anointed?!
Whew...good battle and good report. I enjoyed reading it, especially since my friend is building a Cult of Slaneesh army that'll be in action soon.
It seemed like the Cult player really had you in some tight spots. Good job battling back and taking them out!
The Slaanesh player did make some mistakes, but his rolling was terrible. Anyway, has now switched back to his Orc's he just can't take the small elite force. He did have me in trouble, but one thing about the brets is they are only a charge away from turning the battle.
