In my ongoing project to re-write all my previous battle report with more fluff here is another old but good one.
Henrich Trafgar had just won a major battle outside the castle Brudenhoff. He had only a small contingent of men remaining as the battle took almost all of his troops. He was given orders to hold the small castle of Brudenhoff until help could arrive. He friend Willhelm Manfred had just been put in charge of his unit of great swords. Henrich knew his forces were small and most of his men would not survive any encounters with the enemy. Henrich then order a runner to enlist aid from the town to the north as the runner left Henrich prepared the castle defenses and prayed to Sigmar for help to arrive.
In the early morning of the next day, Henrich was awakened, by the cries of a Hand Gunner who now had the role of a Scout. The Hand Gunner said, “He saw a small group of grotesque men on the outskirts of the castle.” Henrich then ordered his men into their positions…
Empire wins if they keep their gate intact at the end of turn 5.
Chaos wins if they can break down their gate.

Brudenhoff had a been build against a large cliff, thus the castle could only be attacked on 3 sides:
Right side Tower – 2 units of 5 Handgunners
Center Wall section above the gate – Henrich and the Swordmen.
LeftSideTower – Mortar
Ground inside the gate Willhelm and the Greatswords.
Across from the Hand Gunners a unit of Marauders and a Mortar began to setup. Next, to them, Gregor and his Chaos Warriors and next to then another unit of Marauders flanked by the unit of Flayer Kins all facing the Left side tower and Mortar.
Henrich gives the signal and the Swordmen above the gate turn the wheel opening the castle gate. Willhelm leads the Greatswords as they march though the gate and towards the Chaos Warriors, trying to bate them into a charge.
Henrich then commands the mortar crew take out the Marauders in-front them. The crew aims and lights the fuse, but unfortunately, due to hasty setup the crew left the black powder to close to the mortar and in a blinding flash the mortar erupted into flames killing the crew and destroying the machine.
Henrich ignores their failure, and then commands the Handgunners to open fire at the marauders in front of them. 3 of the marauders are killed buy the volley, and Henrich add 1 more with his own Handgun. Henrich is perplexed, such a volley should have caused some panic, but then noticed these marauders were marked with chaos symbols and were obviously combat veterans.
Gregor is impressed with the bravery of the humans wielding Greatswords, but realizes it’s just a ploy to divert his attention from the gate. He orders his Marauder unit on the right to move forward and prepare to engage the Greatswords. While he moves his unit towards the front gate. The Flayer Kin unit moves directly towards the tower with the now vacant mortar. While the Marauders on the left also continue to move towards the tower in front of them, stepping over their fallen comrades.
Gregor now orders his mortar to target the Greatswords. What irony, Gregor thought, I’m using the humans captured mortar to destroy the ones who built it. The Mortar crew fired a round which landed just short of the Greatswords, but 2 of them were slightly out of formation and were killed by the blast. The Greatswords unit began to panic, from the tower wall Henrich yelled, “Hold Your Ground for Sigmar!”, and the men stayed their ground.
Henrich knew the tower where the destroyed mortar was, is now undefended. He orders his Swordmen unit to move to the tower and prepare the boiling oil. Henrich then moves into the tower also. He commands a unit of Handgunners to move on the main wall above the gate. Wilhelm marches his remaining Greatswords in front of the Marauder unit that moved forward, blocking the gate and preparing to take their charge.
The 5 remaining Handgunners in the tower fire at the Marauders unit again this time all miss their targets.
Gregor commands his Marauders to clear the gate of the humans. The Marauders charge into the Greatswords. The Marauders attack the Greatswords, but their skill is too great and the Marauders are unable to land a blow. In return, Willhelm strikes down 1 Marauder, cleaving him in two pieces. Even though they are outnumbered, Wilhelm urges the Greatswords to fight on in the name of Sigmar and they stubbornly remain..
Gregor realizes the will of these humans is strong and moves his Chaos Warrior forwards and prepares to flank charge the Greatswords next turn.
Meanwhile, the marauders on the other side of the battlefield move towards the tower and prepare to charge it and The Flayer Kin attempt to charge the newly fortified tower, but in their haste they underestimated the distance and just make it close to the base of the tower then prepare their grappling hooks for next turn.
Henrich suddenly, hears a Mortar round and yells “ Incoming!!!”. The round lands on top of the gate wall and the whole cast shakes from impact, but the wall remains standing.
Henrich then orders his Handgunners to fire at the Marauders nearing the tower on the other side of the castle. Both units open fire 5 Marauders are killed, but the Marauders resolve is strong as they continue forward. Henrich then takes aim on the Flayer Kin preparing their grappling hooks below and notices some of them have hooks for hands, he fires his handgun and dispatches one with a well placed shot.
Heinrich looks down at the Greatswords in combat with the Marauders, He sees
The Marauder Champion and Wilhelm fighting a challenge, neither one gains an advantage. The rest of the Marauders were able to slay 1 Greatsword, but the Greatswords are able to kill one Marauder in return. Unfortunately, even as Willhelm did battle his troops broke and ran taking him with them. Their path led back in front of the castle gate, the pursing Marauders were close on their heals.
Gregor laughed as he saw the Marauders force the Greatswords to flee and now the Castle Gate was no longer blocked. Gregor ordered his Chaos Warriors “To prepare the Log Ram and be ready to charge the gate.”
Both towers were now being assaulted, The Flayer Kin were climbing the walls using there spiked hand and a small unit of Marauders was scampering up ladders on the other.
Man the Walls, was the cry of Henrich as his Handgunners threw rocks at the Marauders trying to climb the ladders and all 3 Marauders were knocked from their ladders and fell to their deaths. This was too much for the small amount of Marauders left and they turned and ran away from the castle. A cheer arose from the Handgunners as they threw down the last ladder from the castle. In the other Tower, the Swordmen turned the Cauldron of boiling oil and it covered the Flayer Kin. 3 of the Flayer Kin were killed by the oil, and only 3 of them made it up the tower to engage in combat. Henrich drew his Sword of Justice and killed 2 of them before they got to strike. The Flayer Kins hacked at the Swordmen, but they failed to penetrate their defenses. The rest of Flayer Kin continued to climb onto the tower.
As Henrich continued to fight the Flayer Kin he saw Wilhelm’s Greatswords attempt to out the Marauders pursuing them, but it was not meant to be. The Marauders finally caught the fleeing Greatswords and Wilhem hacking them down as they ran.
Henrich was angry at sending his friend to death, but knew if he could just hold our a little longer help would arrive. Henrich then lashed out and killed 3 more Flayer Kin that just made it to the tower. His Swordmen hacked down 2 Flayer Kin also and this wipedg out the Flayer Kin assaulting the tower.
Henrich now surveyed the battlefield. He ran to the back of the Swordmen and yelled to the Handgunners. We must take down the Chaos Warriors with the Log Ram. All of the Handgunners opened fire and 4 Chaos Warriors were killed, but fear and respect for Gregor keep his men from fleeing.
Gregor sensed victory was close at hand. He just had to destroy the gate and his men would take the castle. He ordered his Chaos Warriors to charge with the Log Ram towards the Gate. The first hit severely weekend the Gate, while the second failed to any damage. The third however, resulted in a splintering crack and Gregor knew one more would probably bring it down.
Henrich saw the assault on the gate and knew he would not be able to get down from the Ramparts to stop the Log Ram units. His only hope was to panic them by shooting. He fired a single shot from his handgun and killed a Chaos Warrior. Henrich then ordered his Handgunners to open fire. 3 more Chaos Warriors were killed. Henrich hoped the fire would be enough to brake or weaken the Log Ram unit of Chaos Warriors, but Gregor commanded his unit to stay and once again they obeyed him.
Gregor and his weakened Chaos Warriors charge the Gate once again, but the Log Ram failed to do any damage, the second hit however, splintered the door again, and finally the third hit broke down. As the Chaos Warriors ran into the Castle, Henrich gave the order to retreat.
Chaos Complete Victory:
Man, I just needed the gate to hold, and I would’ve won.
Gregor laughed and said, “What a fine madness” as he watched his Marauders pour into the castle and kill almost all of the remaining humans and ransack everything. As the dust cleared, Gregor noticed Henrich’s body was nowhere to be found. Then, a report came in from some of his men outside the castle. A small army is headed this way and it is being lead by Henrich…

Glad you liked it.
Another cookie for eagletsi! Great report. Keep 'em coming.
So didn't your wife recently give birth to a new child? Are you writing your reports while the baby keeps you up at night?
We had a miscarriage in Aug, and this was our 2nd miscarriage. So this time it's bed rest and relaxation for her and all her normal activities for me.
Which means I probably won't have much time for a game. So I'm re-writing all of my old games. On that note I will be playing a skaven SAD army tonight(Her best friend Liz is coming over so I get some free time, thus look for a report soon.
In generals compendium you there are more siege rules that allow all armies to buy warmachines and other unique siege items.
I'm sorry about the news, too. But I'm glad you're getting the time in for a little gaming. I've found it my chief and best distraction from work / life stress.
Got to point this out folks, please keep asking of personaly lives to PMs or emails please. It has little to do with the thread in hand and well.. is personal. I understand the meaning behind the words and that but all the same please keep it in private.
