Sir Raymond pulled his horse to a stop as one of his knights rode up to him. The knight was obviously excited about somthing. "What is the matter?" inquired Sir Raymond. The knight lifted his visor and replied to his leige "my lord, we found the Chaos champion that killed your uncle Lord Beaumont on the field of battle during the campaign against Chaos!" said the knight excitedly, "your pegasus knights reported seeing his legion in a ruined village about 5 miles north". Sir Raymond's blood ran cold. The campaign had ended months ago, he even led his lord's men in glorious battle for the Lady in defending the walls of Middenheim. It was during that battle that Lord Beaumont fell to that evil knight. "The lady has been generous to aid us in finding the killer of our Lord men" said Sir Raymond, "let us go and arrange another meeting between Sir Beaumont and this fool." The knights changed their direction moving a little quicker with their low born pesants in tow.
Krull the champion of Khorne stood in the middle of the ruined Empire village. He surveyed the landscape. His men had done well to sack this weak town, there had been much innocent blood spilt and there were plenty of sacrifices for later. Surely Khorne would be pleased with him. He had sent the larger part of his force to move to the east and harass any enemies they came across to aid in Archaeon's retreat from middeneim. Somthing guided Krull's head to look towards a set of buildings to his right. It appeared as if nothing was there.... wait somthing moved in taht doorway. A second later a hail of arrows flew forth from the ruined houses. Knights arrayed in the lance formation appearede in the alleys between the smoldering buildings. Bretonians... this would be a better fight than what the villagers had put up. Krull raised his sword and mounted his steed, letting out a yell his men began to assemble from pillaging and prepared for battle.
Palladin Standard Bearer
11 Knights of the Realm
12Knights of the Realm
20 Men at arms
9 Questing knights
3 Pegasus knights
6 Chosen knights
10 Chaos Warriors
1 Aspiring champion
6 Mounted Chaos Mauraders
The Bretonian army knelt to pray, thus surrendering the first turn to the Chaos player.
All units advanced across the village commons towards the Bretonians. The Warriors marched to get closer faster as did the mauraders. The Knights attempted a flanking movement.
Mauraders charged the bowmen in the right most building. The combat was close and fierce but thanks to the grail knight standard bearer in the rear, they held. The Chaos knights marched to get closer to the questing knights to attempt a charge.
Both units of archers were deployed in buildings. They pulled back their bow strings and 3 shots hit. But only one was lucky when the arrow shot through the neck of an unlucky warrior. The next unit of Archers fired a volly and this time only one hit, loging the bolt in his one of his eye sockets. Sir Raymond gave the orders to his knights to hold.
The chosen knights charged the questing knights and the questing knights were killed to a man. The chosen knights of korne let out a cheer and praises to their dark god. The combat between the mounted mauraders and the archers continued but this time the archers broke and ran. Enraged at how the people of bretonia had been attacked the standard bearer drew his sword and met the mauraders head on in mortal combat.
Sir Raymond marched out of the alley his unit was in and began to wheel in order to flank the chosen knights on the other side of his line. Sir Goyave the Gallant from the other unit of knights charged the unit of chaos warriors who were just crossing the dirt road that separated the village commons from the buildings. The champion challenged him to a duel and the Gallant accepted it and died for the lady's honor. Enraged by the loss of their beloved leader, the knights made sure they aimed their lances true, and they killed the entire front rank of the evil knights. The chaos warriors broke ranks and began to retreat but were run down by the mounted knights who served justice with the hooves of their warhorses.
The chosen knights turned to face the pegasus knights who had taken position flying above a farm house. The mauraders, outnumbering the banner knight forced him to retreat. They attempted to attack the archers in their building on the right side of the bretonian lines but could not, so being fast cavalry, they turned around and preparede to charge the men at arms unit next turn.
The men at arms warden saw this and orderedhis unit to execute a left wheel and drawing his sword, pointed it at the mauraders and yelled charge!. With a loud battle cry the men at arms charged with only one thing in mind, "make their high born masters proud or die in the attempt". The men at arms slamed into the chaos barbarian unit and lost one of their number to a well aimed axe. In anger at the loss of his brother, one low born soldier ran the murdering barbarian through with his pole arm. The mauraders knew they were outnumbered so they retreated.
The Knights attempt to attack the pegasus knights but they miss them as the knights fly into the graveyard in the left middle of the battlefield. Sir Raymond marched his unit down the dirt road towards the graveyard. The pegasus knights remain one step ahead of the chosen knights by tightening the noose around the trap. the knights "jumped" the wall and were now in the grave yard.
Sir Raymond brought his horse to a stop at the enterance to the grave yard. He lifed his visor and pointed at the chaos champion who had murdered his uncle. "YOU!" shouted the bretonian palladin, "IN THE NAME OF THE LADY AND MY UNCLE LORD BEAUMONT, I CHALLENGE YOU TO MORTAL COMBAT!" The champion laughfed, did this fancy pants puppy wish to fight him? Krull the conquror? Slayer of villages and heroes? "What an idiot" thought krull. The two charged at each other and began their combat. As the pegasus knights did a flank charge on the unit of chosen knights and Sir Raymond's realm knights charged the chaos knights as well.
Sorry about it being anti climatic man. My friend and I got together today with just our leader models to figure out which one would have won. I turned the battle between the two into a story:
Their knights surrounded the two leaders, all locked in mortal combat. "Im going to kill you and bathe in your blood!" taunted Krull as he swung his sword, "Just like I did with your puny Uncle". The Bretonian barely got his shield up in time to block the blow. It didnt really do much good since the massive blade tore the shield half in two, knocking the knight flat on his back and sent his birth sword flying among the tomb stones. "Now its over" thought Sir Raymond. He thought about how he had failed the lady and his Uncle. Now he would no doubt be meeting him in the company of the lady in shame. Krull swung his sword down towards the helpless bretonian anticipating the killing blow. Somthing stopped his sword. Krull could barely see a female hand staying the wrath of his blade. Krull couldnt move, "what magic is this?" thought Krull becoming fearful. The knight scrambled to his feet and ran for his sword. He picked it up as the hand dissapeared and Krull's sword buried itself in dirt. "Uncle" prayed Sir Raymond, 'guide this sword my father, your brother, placed in my hands the day I was born, deep into the heart of my enemy." Krull let out a bellowing roar as he charged in a bezerked rage. Raymond assumed the stance of a batter in the sports games he played as a boy. Krull came closer. Raymond sidestepped at the last moment and brought his sword down in an arc cleaving the Chaos champion's head clean off. Krull's body kept running even after his head bounced on the ground. It stopped when it tripped over a headstone and rose no more. Raymond looked around him, his knights were winning their battles against a disheartened foe since the knights saw their champion fall. Raymond looked down at the head of the Champion of Korne. "This is for my uncle" mumbled the proud knight as he kicked the head into an open grave. Raymond smiled, now he could return home, his uncle's death avenged. It would be a long journey indeed, traveling from the north eastern part of the empire back to Cassarone in Bretonia.

I was excited to read the end of the battle. My your could just simulate it and post something. Because that was really anti-climatic.
im sry but wat items did u give your pally?
Sorry I didnt include it at first, it just totally slipped my mind. My pally had the Virtue of Purity and armour of Agiluf. My standard bearer wasnt equiped with anything since I had already gone over the agreed points for the battle.
Wow, Terminator! You write really well. This is one of the best narrative reports I've read in a long time. You're going to give eagletsi a run for his money on here.
I was really hanging on to the closing. You imagine the story so fully, and you really bring in the fluff well. I loved the birth sword and the history of the chaos champion and the empire noble's uncle. And this next paragraph was great. I laughed out loud when I read the fancy pants sentence:And the "What an idiot" line is great, too. The phrases are so modern sitting there in the middle of this archaic battle. It's hilarious.Sir Raymond brought his horse to a stop at the enterance to the grave yard. He lifed his visor and pointed at the chaos champion who had murdered his uncle. "YOU!" shouted the bretonian palladin, "IN THE NAME OF THE LADY AND MY UNCLE LORD BEAUMONT, I CHALLENGE YOU TO MORTAL COMBAT!" The champion laughed, did this fancy pants puppy wish to fight him? Krull the conquerror? Slayer of villages and heroes? "What an idiot," thought Krull. The two charged at each other and began their combat.
Hope you post another one soon.
nice report mate really nice
have you posted your army fluff somewhere would lov to read it?
nice humor too, great writing and a proud victory for the loyal Bretonnia army
Keep up the good work.
i have only one gripe and that is you killed off krull, krull was made by gw and features in several background story's and as such you had no right to kill him. apart from that it was pretty good
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
Im sure Khorne would raise Krull from the dead, or perhaps he never even died. Chaos champions have been known to be killed in one battle only to reappear in another leading the forces of their dark god. Thanks for all the remarks people, Ill post more as im contemplating a campaign in which the bretonian army realizing the campaign against Chaos is over and they decide to return home to Cassorone where the crusade began. Druing this the forces of Chaos decide they want to kill these meddeling bretonians before they get home. Other armies that I would face would have their own reasons for wanting to kill the bretonians. Thanks again and now im off to post the fluff for my army.
You mean the Undead chaos champion 'Krell' surely (Heinrich Kemmler's best mate I think), I've never heard of a named character called Krull. There's a very old fantasy adventure film called Krull, but no Warhammer character as far as I'm aware...Originally Posted by Plague_00
