I just played my first game,a 500 pointer against High-elves and whupped them somethin fierce.
lv 2 book of arkhan
infinite harted iron sinews
High Elf Genero Hero
sword of might and some armour that gave 2+ with a re-roll
16 Sea guard
1 Repeater bolt thrower
VC: I set up the zombie unit in the centre and my Strigoi joined it, the 2 ghoul units stood in front of the zombies to shield them from the bows and bolt thrower.
HE:He set up his seaguard in a 5x3 formation in front of my zombies with his character to the left ofit and the bolt thrower on a flank.
VC: on the first turn i thought that ghoulies moved 6 inches, so i advanced them 12 inches up each one going towards the character/bolt thrower and one goin towards the sea guard.
the zombiesa advanced normaly. in the magic phase i streangthened my zombies unit by seven and then miscasted and got a 5, ending my magic phase.
HE: His bowmen shot and killed one or two zombies. bolt thrower missed my zombie squad.
his hero charged my ghouls, killing one, my ghouls retalliated wounding one, then I watch as he rolls double ones on his armour save. His hero breaks and flees, ghouls run him downand advance 9 inches, then the sea guard get scared and ditch, narrorly asavoiding the table edge.
VC: my ghouls declare a charge on the bolt thrower and scare away the crew. al units advance steadily towards the enemy. Use dense macabre too zoom my zombies nearer to the sea guard.
HE: Sea guard rally. they shoot down a few zombies.
VC: okay my magic is back in business. I charge the seaguard with a unit of ghouls and the zombies, in the magic phase I fail all my spells, but i use book of arkhan on the other ghouls and succesfully execute a 3 point charge. The sea guard pass a million fear tests.
My vampire i killed around 6 of his guard and he killed 5 of my zombies, but i still won the cc round, he passed all his tests.
HE: The crew on the RBT rally and go back to their gun. combat continues, his men are all gone and my zombies are still pretty much fine.
VC: A unit of ghouls declare a charge on the RBT. in the magic phase i summon ten zombies, use the book on them and charge the RBT. the crew ditches and I Claim the victory.
One unit of my ghouly units made all of the high elves units flee at least once. (the RBT crew twice!) that unit made its points back infinity.
uh..he only had 1 core choice. but if you guys let the rules slide because HE are expensive that's cool. Congrats on the victory!
Just a note to take into account, you can't dance ghouls, you can only dance undead units, and they are a living unit.
Cool game and good report! You made a few rookie mistakes, but they were minors one. Just remember that ghouls are alive and only move 4. Still, those things didn't effect the outcome. He still would have charged you and you still would have spanked him.
Strigoi's are cool and infinite hatred is a good ability to take.
Check out the rules on warbands, though. You may have to limit how many points you have in your characters. But if you aren't playing WB rules, it doesn't matter.
As stated above you can't dance the Ghouls.
But not bad for your first game.
good job. i think his list stinks. >=[
Good report. Your opponent's list was not very good, and I like your idea of a Strigoi in 500pts.
"Well... that hurt" - Vampire Jon Skellan (Mannfred's right hand man) after being beaten up, falling down an underground waterfall and being impaled by a stalactite.
Do Ghouls cause fear, because remember, if you win the combat resolution against him and outnumber, then he automatically breaks.
Also you can't shoot or move on the turn you rally. Just so your opponent knows this in the future.
I'm sure you will enjoy many more games, it sounds like you are doing great.

Nice for a first time out. Not suprising you won. Your list was nice and his was very bad. I should know as my last army was HE. He was pretty much doomed from the beginning.
The seaguard shouldn't have tested either upon losing the combat. You outnumbered them and they would have autobroken from a fear causing enemy.
thanks for all the compliments and junk, as for the rule things I havent really looked over the rulebook too hard.
ps: It turns out you miscast on double 1's so it would have been a irrisistable force in my first turn.
