Had a game today & figured I must be well overdue for a battle report! To my amazment, I sat down when I got home & remembered practically everything that happened
Heres a link to the Battlefield:
I reverted to the rulebook recommendations for scenery placement this time, to make sure it wasnt placed to one sides advantage. Which worked. (namely stopping there from being too many walls).
The thin grey strips are walls, the grey blocks are ruined buildings, The ovals are hills. The green blobs on each side are forests.
Note: Chariots are marked by a "C", Dark riders by "D.R"
I chose sides & began deployment on the North side (theres a Nth symbol on the right, I'll use this as a reference for explaining which direction things are moving & facing)

20-ish Longbeards - full command
18-20-ish Slayers, Full command (3 Giant slayers)
20-ish Iron Breakers - Full command
Bolt thrower - Engineer, rune of penetrating
Both players roll a 1 for first turn, meaning Dwarves go first, because they finished deploying first. (+1 to roll)
Turn 1: Dwarves
-Cannon shoots over spearmen
-Bolt thrower misses Chariot
Turn 1: Dark Elves
-Dragon flies over building to finish behind the hill
-Harpies fly SE straight towards the Bolt thrower
-The western Chariot fails stupidity & stumbles forward 3"
-Dark riders move up to the edge of the hill, facing SW
-Everything else marches forward at full speed!
-Bolt throwers kill 2 Long beards, enough to take away a rank bonus.
Turn 2: Dwarves
-Gyrocopter flew over hill to the NW flank of the Dark Riders, facing them
-Longbeard unit moves up level with Bolt thrower
-Cannon destroys Eastern Chariot
-Gyro kills 1 dark rider.
-Thunderers kill 1 more Dark Rider, who promptly pass their Panic test (within 12" of general)
-Organ gun misfires & blows up!!! (becoming a habit for him) It was targetting Cold One Knights.
Turn 2: Dark Elves
-Harpies charge Bolt thrower crew
-Dragon flies over hill to be on Thunderers East Flank, facing them.
Thunderers fail Terror test & flee 1" "Holy sh*t!:ninja: run as fast as your stumpy legs can!"
-Stupidity tests passed. Everything else advances forward again. excluding dark Riders
-Both Reaper Bolt throwers target Gyro & reduce it to 1 remaining wound.
-Dragon sends some bad breath after the Thunderers, killing 2 (someone needs a mint! :x )
-Harpies claw away at the Bolt thrower crew like disgruntled wives, killing 2. 1 killed in return.
Crew break & are persued persued by the Harpies but not caught, finishing up behind SE corner of long beard unit. Panic tests are passed.
Turn 3: Dwarves
-The 5 big infantry blocks all advance towards my units.. I was already within charge range but this guarenteed it.. strange move. Maybe trying to gain some distance from the edge incase they flee?
-Thunderers & BT crew rally
-Deamon slayer moves towards the cannon, chasing the dragon.. I guess it fits the suicidal fluff :shifty:
Cannon grape shots at Dragon but causes no damage (rolled S2).
Gyro kills 2 more Dark riders
Turn 3: Dark Elves Combat time!
-Dragon charges thunderers
-Iron Guts charge Iron breakers.. Iron anyone?
-Executioners charge slayer (my biggest mistake of the game)
-Corsairs charge Longbeards & the Assasain reveals himself (on the corner where the Runesmith is).
-Spearmen charge the Warrior + Thane unit, Harpies hit the rear, lone dark rider hits the flank (this gets ugly..for me :cry
-RBT's finish off Gyrocopter
-Executioners defeat the Slayers only to realise they are unbreakable! Oh f__! Oops..
-Iron Guts kill 2 with impact hits, then have some bad rolls & only kill 1 with attacks. Iron breakers fail fear test & score no wounds (hitting on 6's). Iron breakers pass break test.
-Spearmen, harpies & rider manage to kill NOTHING. Thane has 4 attacks and kills 4 spearmen. Rider is killed. 3 harpies killed.
Harpies flee off table, Spearmen are persued & caught..20 dead. Ouch  ..
Warriors finish up next to Cold One Knights, facing NNE.
-Assasain has bad rolls & only gets 1 wound on Runesmith. Combat is tied.
-Dragon slaughters 5 thunderes & chooses not to persue (wouldve set myself up to be charged by the lord unit, but they then panicked & fled West).. "Woa, that dragon slaughtered them! :ninja: Are we gonna hang around for that, boss?...Boss? *turns to see Lord leggin' it* Ahhh! :ninja
This combat phase somewhat made up for their bad luck with shooting earlier.
Turn 4: Dwarves
-Thunderers & Lord unit rally
-Deamon slayer charges Dragon's rear (passes Terror test)
-The Warrior+Thane unit turn West to face the CoK's flank.
-Bolt thrower crew scramble to re-man their machine, but dont get within 1"
Cannon destroys Reaper Bolt thrower
-Executioners & slayers kill a few each and combat holds (a bit of luck there for me).
-Iron breakers hold once again against the Iron Guts
-Deamon slayer lashes out at the Highborn but his Ward saves shrugs off 2 wounds. He reminds the fool just who is riding an ancient beast of immense power :shifty: Causing 2 wounds, 1 remianing. Combat won & dragon turns to face.
-Assasain has some more bad rolls & fails to finish off the Runesmith :hmm: Combat holds again.
Turn 4: Dark ELves
-Stupidity passed. Cold One knights are trapped between Corsairs & Dwarf warriors, so they simply turn to face the warriors.
-Chariot sets itself up to flank charge the warriors after they charge the Knights
-Things arent looking good for the Knights, the RBT tries to lend support but only downs 1 warrior..
-Dragon lord dispenses the Deamon slayer & overruns into Cannon crew, killing all of them.
-Iron Breakers get a bit lucky & defeat the Iron Guts, and persue & catch them.. Not a good day at the office for the Ogres..
-Exectioners finally lose to Slayers & break, but escape by 6". Another mighty 1" move by the Dwarves!
-Assasain finally cuts down the RuneSmith, but the Stubborn Longbears hold again.
Turn 5: Dwarves
-BT crew re-man their machine (cant shoot this turn).
-Warriors + Thane charge Cold One Knights. Pass fear test.
-Iron Breakers turn around and rush back to aid their comrades, but they are too far from the action now to play any further part..
-Slayers charge the fleeing Executioners, who escape by 1"
-Thunderers try to settle their grudge, causing 1 wound on the Highborn... You just KNOW they're gonna pay for that! (
-Warriors & Thane kill 1 Cold One Knight, defeating them, but the Knights dig deep and score Insane courage!
-Assasain cuts down several long bears who finally break. Corsairs catch them & also persue into the Bolt thrower crew. Cutting them down as they scramble to reload.
Overrun into Lord unit's flank
Turn 5: Dark Elves
-Dragon flies to the flank of the Thunderers. (thunderers facing East, Dragon facing South).
-Chariot fails stupidity but is still close enough to blunder into the Warrior unit
-Executioners rally in front of the Slayers.
-RBT rewards the Executioners courage by killing 3 SLayers.
-Dragon kills 2 more Thunderers with bad breath (Would someone get this guy a mint!!) 2 Thunderers remaining.
-Assasain only kills 1-2 warriors, the combat is a draw.
-Chariot manages 7 Impact hits & kills 4-5 Warriors :w00t: , crew & Cold Ones kills nothing.
Cold One Knights kill 1 warrior (I think). Warriors break & are caught by the Knights.
Turn 6: Dwarves
-Slayers charge Executioners
-Lord moves through the ranks to engage the deadly assasain despatching his warriors.
-Thunderers turn to face their demise...
-Slayers only kill afew Executioners & lose more in return, losing the combat. Unbreakable.
-The Lords Rune of Swiftness (Boo!) allows him to easily slay the assasain. Combat holds.
Turn 6: Dark Elves
-Dragon charges the Thunderers
-Cold One Knights & chariot both pass stupidity but cant get into combat. So instead they move to contest/secure table quarters.
-Dragon slaughters the 2 remianing thunderers and casts their mangled corpses upon the ground. I told you they would pay!
-Corsairs manage to hold firm against the Lords might.
-Slayers defeat Executioners who score insane courage! (bah, who's scared of suicidal maniacs with big axes? :sleep
-kills = 1615 points
-2 Captured banners = 200 points
-1 Table quarter = 100 points.
-kills = 1028 points
-1 Captured banner = 100
Solid victory to the Dark Elves
Ill post some more comments & after thoughts on the battle later. Right now im freakin' tired and need some sleep! I cant believe I typed all that
EDIT: Soo. I was pretty happy with this game, it was a good one.
The Dragon killed a reasonable amount but certainly didnt make its points back (something for people who think it's overpowered to note).
Luck-wise I think it was reasonably even. We both had periods of both horrible & good rolls.

Quite the readable battle report, thanks for writing that up.
Good win, solid report. My friend plays DE's and is just thoroughly depressed with them, he can't seem to ever scrape out a win. Good to see someone having some success wit' em!

Good report and well written, just one question though, when your dragon over ran into the bolt thrower, I think it was that, did you fight another round of combat? it read like you did, but it didn't look like they were already in combat, so I'm not sure how you fought twice in your combat phase.
