Alright, i'm a COMPLETE n00b to warhammer and these forums, so what the hell is a campaign in warhammer? I know what a campign is in video games, lol, but I don't get it. Can someone explain? There is no beginners thread here.
A campaign can be many things! Basically its a string of battles where each battle has some effect on the general outcome of the campaign or on the next battle. There are many ways to do it.
For example it may just be a series of games where the winners get to use more points in their next game, or maybe if your troops die you have to "pay" in some form of gold or resource to get some more for the next game. GW's worldwide campaigns basically take the form of people playing, posting their results online and then GW figures out which race won overall.
The most complicated form of campaign (which would take a LOT of organising) is a map based one. (think Total War games). You would have to have one crazy campaign master to do one of those.
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

I'm playing in a map-based campaign at my local hobby store. It's been going on for about 5 weeks now (I think I'm winning ). I'm within reach of Praag at the moment.
