    LO Site Campaign- who's interested?

On several sites I've been on, there has been a site campaign at some point or other. I've seen them run with varying degrees of simplicity and success. Since coming to LO a couple of years back, I've always wondered why we never did one.

So basically, here I am, trying to see who else would be up for organising/taking part in one. After all, there's no point A) Making/running one on your own, especially with a lack of Mod powers *feels impotent* B ) If no-one's going to take part in it. On TLA, their campaign is barely staying above water, due to a lack of people playing LOTR any more.

Here are my thoughts on it:
*It would likely be similar to the SoC supplement- hopefully complete with a PDF if all goes well.
*Being similar to the SoC supplement, extra units/characters could be created for every army. Bring in some new Magic Items and alternate army lists and, all of a sudden, it just got more interesting. (yes, I am thinking of Witch Hunters for Empire)
*The majority of it would be member-made. For example, said army lists, characters etc ^ would be designed by site members, and the background, I'm thinking of running a Fluff Competition for. And so on.

So who would be up for doing something like this? And, assuming we get enough support, I'll need a bit of an Admin team, since there would be a lot of work to be done:
*A map needs to be made (be it territory conquest, like Risk, or battles going on in XXX location, like the Nemesis Crown campaign). This is where a good knowledge of technology would come in
*Some way would have to be found to deter cheating.
*The supplement PDF needs to be compiled, and have some decent stuff in it (at bare minimum, I'd like to see something better than the Nemesis Crown campaign). Background fluff, conversion guides, maps etc. I wouldn't touch the last two with a barge pole, being totally useless at both.
*Even the plot has a few intricacies. For example, it would have to be original (ergo, no Dwarf treasure), simple yet realistic (if the world is facing a massive Apocalypse, then maybe the background idea was too extravagant), and so on.
*Working out a winner. Does one tally up the amount of wins, and their nature? Is it all about participation? Do we decide to have capitals and raze them to the ground with the last one standing being the winner?
*I am only one person, and my passion for this project will undoubtedly wax and wane, hence more people at the top would be a huge convenience. Some discussion beforehand would be good too, since there are also likely some finer points that would have to be ironed out too, before any pencils are put to paper.
*Kind of with the last point, but there is stuff out there that I will have forgotten/forgotten to mention/never even thought of in the first place. Chances are I won't be any good at it.

Again, the question stands, who would be up for running and taking part in an LO site campaign? Discuss.

Anywhere I see the words 'Fluff Competition' I start to get interested.

This sounds like an interesting idea. I'd been keen to help in some capacity.

Now, what is it that I'm good at? Probably my strongest point is writing. I might be okay at knocking out a map or two, but they'd be paper and pencil sketches, not digital wizardry. Conversions I'm reasonable at, provided I have the time, tools and trinkets required, though I've not done a true guide for one before.

Not so strong on the technology side of things, at least what I perceive you'd be needing for this. Basic MS Office stuff, yeah, but anything over that is exceeding my level of expertise.

But, regardless, I'd be willing to throw the proverbial hat into the ring! So +1 for interest.

I've posted a site announcement. I can lend modly help as far as thread management and such. If it really takes off, we'll talk to BH about adding a sub-forum under FB Campaigns.

I'll be willing to help if I can, mapwise, maybe making a little ladder thing for people to enter win's and losses in? And good idea!

I'd be happy to lend a helping hand in anything I'm capable of. Also it seems everyone wants to be map man, including me.

Yes, this is going to take a lot of work. I can help out where needed, but I'll be gone awhile in the Spring. It seems as if the things that need to be done are...

    1) Come up with the overall background (is it a sea campaign? in the badlands? the chaos wastes?)

    2) Decide the rules, regulations for the campaign, revising it as needed along the way

    3) Come up with race specific rules for the campaign

    4) Design any extras for armies such as characters, new item, new units

    5) Consider victory conditions. This will probably be determined by the number of players for different armies, the background fluff, etc. Also figure otu whether there is one victory condition for everyone, or if they have different goals.

    6) Pan out any other details, get the structure going.

I would suggest if this idea works out, to get the thing running by the summer, as that is the only time that enough people will have the time to spend. I'd also consider the fact that there are 17 "official" armies out htere right now. Coming up with speciifc rules for each of them may be daunting.

Good luck with it all, and if there's any way I can help, just let me know.
I am heading off to the Peace Corps. It is bery likely I will not be back. Good luck to all of you endeavors.

Most of your concerns were voiced in my initial post. As Dave said in the Announcement, we have a lot of great members, and, as an Economics student, I know what can be accomplished through Specialisation.

My thoughts are that if a thread goes up in every army forum to design (say) five units/characters, it should be done relatively easily.

That's what I was hoping for. I'm useless at that kind of thing, and it's so important.

If anyone wants to help oversee the Design/Running of this, PM me. So far I'll wait to see if more people register interest before beginning.

SOunds like everything is working out so far. Count me in if any help is needed for any of the overall fluff. I'll probably chip into the VC section as well as it is my army.
