One of the things I enjoy about worldwide campaigns is the chance to do things a little differently, even if it only means doing a new slant on my unit selections, and I think the Nemesis crown campaign, with it's lack of clear reasons for why or how a lot of races are involved, is a great example of something that can allow players to challenge themselves with a slightly(or heavily) themed army, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea's of how, or if, their going to do anything a little bit special with their army selections.
I for example have decided to base my army selections around a lizardman search party dropped by a large flock of terradons to the centre of the great forest. Based on this simple background I intend to add some quite extensive extra unit restrictions onto any force I field in Nemesis crown games.
for example: Terradons aren't strong enough to carry heavy things so stegadons, carnosaurs and slann(And subsequently temple gaurd) are right out, and only one unit of kroxigor or one unit of salamanders may be fielded
The empire while probably being home to venomous varieties of snakes and reptiles would not have the swarming numbers of the Lustrian and southlands jungles, so no lizard swarms either.
Also without the facilities of trainers, handlers and baggage trains laden with feed, Cold one riders will be forced to forage, and difficult for terradons to transport in the first place, so they also are to be 0-1
Also terradons are 1+ compulsory. Obviously.
I may be mad to limit myself so, or maybe you think my measures don't go far enough, either way how do you plan to find the Nemesis Crown?
I can resist everything except temptation.
indeed youve limited yourself too far.
being one of the main competitors in nemisis crown i'd doubt gw would decide not to make its own armies / restrictions.
your army is now limited to saurus and skinks which to my opinion gives too little playing variety and little choice of tactica
i don't play FB (40k 4 teh win) but i always think restrictions like this are great! It gives your army more feel as opposed to vanilla (not a FB term?).
I did look up what you propossed in my lizardman book. I also think that Terradons might be an option (flying along side the host).
This might be an uniformed comment, but you could give them some hides to wear? lizardmen are presumably coldblooded...? so that would mean they would need something to keep warm, like scavenged clothes or animalhides
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
Thats a great idea, I must look into doing something like that. Although I don't know if I'm really a good enough modeller, but thank you!
I can resist everything except temptation.
im a 40k player but starting fantasy.
Im starting Empire but i want to theme my army around Estalia.
So im gona have a backstory of the king/count/ruler of Estalia wanting the crown for himself.
Before he can amass his armies, he sends a fleet of eight Galleons containing a scouting force to establish a stronghold near Marienburg where the rest of the army can arrive.
But as they arrive at the landing area, they encountered the tomb kings. The ships cannons opened fire but there were too many undead, one ship was stormed by borders from the undead ship while another was destroyed by catapults. the rest escaped damaged.
so my army will be have no knights as the only ship carrying knghts was sunk by catpults while the army will have no rare units as i dont think estalia has rockets or hellblaasters and tanks. Besides that, i will have mostly swordsmen as the estallians are famed swordsmen and handgunners like the musketeers. Also, cannons and mortars, pistoliers and greatswords will be 0-1.
When i get more models later, the story will be that the main army had arrived and ranks replenished.
For this campaign I am going to go with a Wood elf vengeance kindred. Unlike most wood elven armies mine will have a more unified feel and will have some vibrant colors. My army is designed to represent an alomst suicidal desire for revenge, so I took several units of wardancers as well as way watchers.
