In the Empire Army Book, it mentions that the Warrior Priests can use one prayer per turn in the magic phase. It also says that they are cast in the same way as Bound Spells, which in turn, are cast the same as normal spells. So far, so good.
So, what if the Priest is in combat (likely). Can he still use his prayers?
The answer is probably no, but that's what confuses me. There is a prayer that is cast on enemies in base contact with him. This means that the priest must be in combat in order to get this prayer off.
How does that work? Is it an oversight on GW's part, or are the Prayers an exception? Any help would be appreciated.
You can still cast while in combat. There are just limitations to the type of spells you can cast.
All spells, Bound or otherwise, can be cast even if the caster is in CC. The only restrictions are spells with 'Cannot be cast whilst in Combat' in their description, and also whilst in combat the caster has no LoS, negating the effect of casting magic missiles etc.
