Reading the Skaven FAQ (http://us.games-workshop.com/errata/assets/skaven.pdf), it states:
"Does the cavalry base special rule mean that weapons teams can be targeted even when within 5" of a unit because they are on a larger base?"
Since I'm aware that models hanging around near units being untargetable was removed in the current edition of WHFB, I assume this is an FAQ applying to a previous version, and I haven't missed something somewhere?
Also as a side question, if the answer to the above is yes, are there up to date FAQs anywhere?
Yeah is applies to the 6th ed rules. Skaven weapons teams can now be targeted freely (which is a good thing )
The rules changed in 7td ed and a FAQ is no longer needed, its all explained in the rulebook.
Basically any model can now be targeted if not in a unit. The rules were changed to stop weapons teams and mages etc hiding so close to units, when really they would be able to be picked out.
Also, don't expect any updated FAQ's on the skaven front as theres more than enough rumour about their army book hitting us sometime next year or early 09
