Stubbled upon this one while I was tring to make the most survivable Beastlord, without using the Hordes Book....
Is the Staff of Darkoth, when used like a braystaff, only one handed when used defensivly? The combo in mind, would be Staff of Darkoth, Chaos Armour, Shield on a Beastlord with the MoT. (Then throw in Run eof the True Beast for good measure ). This would grant him a 1+ armour save!
The problem is, the staff is always a two-handed item.
So just drop the shield to handle it defensively(+2As) OR offensively (+2S);
as long as you keep the shield in hand you must use a normal hand weapon.
It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.
Ok, but where does it say it's two handed defensively? When used as a great weapon, yes, but defensively, Id see it used just as an extra shield (since it doesn't state...)
I think Tim is right.. GW on offense, no specifcation on Def, hence one handed is assumed.
