An interesting situation occured during a recent game and I was wondering what should be done or what people would of done. My wood elf noble was riding a great stag and he was part of the wild rider kindred. Normally only characters that are mounted are allowed to join a fast cavalry units such as wild riders. So my wild rider noble on great stag was in close combat when my oppenent killed my stag. Question is since my character is now not mounted does he immediatly leave the unit? does he leave as soon as possible? does he flee or pursue seperatly to the wild rider unit?
I'd say he's stuck there until presented with an opportunity to leave during a movement phase. The act of joining is restricted, the state of being a member isn't. He should remain in the unit and they'd be stuck rolling two dice to pursue.
The rules don't really have any system for dealing with someone who happens to be standing in the middle of a regiment but isn't a member of it. You'd 'break' a lot more by no longer considering him a member.
Unmounted characters can join fast cavalry if you want them to. It's rarely in your best interest to do so, however.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

special shooting rules.
Yes, a non-mounted character could join a mounted unit, but the unit would be restricted to his movement. It's the sort of thing you might do to keep alive a character that's found himself in a tight spot.
I know non-mounted characters can join mounted units. But if I remember correctly its different for fast cavalary as it says that mounted charcters can join fast cavalry but doent mention non mounted charcters.
Nope, now that I have been humbled for posting without a rulebook handy, I have checked it =) It specifies that when a mounted character joins fast cav, they are still able to move as fast cav. This doesn't stop an unmounted character, they just lose the free reforms etc.
where does it say that non mounted characters can join fast cavalary units? In that section (fast cavalry, flyers skirmishers...) it states what charcters can join what units and when it talks about fast cavalry and characters it only mentions mounted charcters.
*Wins* i answered this in chat guys, problem solved. Page 72, bottom right.
