    Any rules you don't use?

Inspired by the most obscure rules thread, I wanted to find out what rules my fellow gamers either ignore, tend to forget or make up house rules for.
    What's your rule?

My experience is that many players, veterans as well, are not aware of the insane courage rule.

Well, being Undead i ignore all that Psychology rubbish! well, except for causing it on the enemy.

In 400K there are a few, but in fantasy i tend to play by the book. Building though, i tend to stay clear of using them for terrain, hence not having to know the rules for involving them in games. I just think the way they are included is a bit weird. Can work in skirmish type games well, but when considering large armies they just dont seem to fit very well.

I think pretty much every single person in my gaming group tends to forget about pinning tests in 40k. We've all got stuff that causes it, but no one ever remembers to use it! Lol, it might actually make some of our games turn out MUCH differently, but oh well

Hmm, our club has a no-clipping house rule, which I think is pretty common. Although I think they take it too far in fully maximizing all combats, but as long as it's applied consistently, they're just abstract rules. I've also never seen anyone use anything from the sections on buildings and special objectives.

I don't use the terrain setup rules. I just tend to throw it down reasonably equally (with a bit of prodding and poking from both of us) and go from there.

Oooh, 400K. Never heard of it. Is it a GW one?

Anyways, we're not so pedantic about terrain set-up (like Rork) but otherwise we play by the book.

And I agree about the 40K one (lets hope 5th Ed has been well thought out).

Character deployment is another I (and I think a lot of people) skip over. Leaving a character-sized gap in a unit is silly, so they just go down at the same time as their unit.

I agree with you on that one Rork. And when I'm going to figure out who gets the +1 for least units I don't count characters unless they operate alone.

    Any one else?

I think character deployment is important. My 2 units of wild riders usally go on opposite flanks and a have a lord on stag go into 1 of those units. I dont leave a gap in the unit and after seeing how most units are laid out I decide which of the units he will go in.
